just got the CUTEST kris from a con. i'm on the floor actually.
artist: @spencer-arts (thank you! 💕)
have i said something about susie possibly being from undertale the way sans is most likely from deltarune? i could've sworn i have. but in case i haven't
also btw sorry if my english is worse than usual. i haven't had ample chance to use it as of late
the more i think about it the more holes this theory has actually, but even if it's incorrect i think the bricks i have collected can build a house eventually. (even if it becomes a different house). this was spurred by the recent wave of headcanons for susie's father on twitter and i took a moment to think about it..
i genuinely don't think there's a guardian where susie lives in hometown. i feel like she was 'removed' from wherever she was unceremoniously without anyone else accompanying her. mind you, this doesn't necessarily paint her original guardians in a good light, because she's so accustomed to being left alone that there's nothing ingame to show that she's not already adjusted to being neglected previously. however, gonerclam's 'neighbor's daughter' does allude to the existence of a guardian, no matter how neglectful they might have been. this is no longer true in deltarune, i think, as the guardian doesn't accompany susie in moving to hometown.
i think susie is from undertale, specifically waterfall, in large part because of her quite significant connections with waterfall parallels. as mentioned here (conflicting with alphys, avoiding shyra's grave). she also immediately formed a deep connection with gerson. however, it's interesting that she has no familiarity with monster funeral rites; that she thinks she's supposed to bleed instead of dust when she's hurt; that she didn't know who gerson is prior to chapter 4. these are things you're supposed to know if you had been a denizen of waterfall in undertale. (or tbh, of the kingdom of monsters in undertale at all)
i considered that susie's waterfall parallels may simply exist on an analogical level instead of a literal one - in the sense that there will later be lore reasons for these allusions that do not necesarily mean she actually came from undertale - but i also considered that she's from undertale, still. the only explanation i have is that she's from post-canon undertale, where monsterkind is free but still faces prejudice -- or pre-canon undertale, during the time gerson described in the anniversary stream, where monsterkind was free but war was brewing. i don't know! this is still weak to me. but i genuinely don't think it's nothing.
not undertale (monsterkind dusts upon death and lives underground), not deltarune (monsterkind dusts upon death and lives aboveground), but a secret third thing (alternate universe where monsterkind bleeds and where susie and sans come from)

..because susie moved in. holy shit. purposefully or not, this absurd crack theory accidentally supports the idea that susie is not the girl in the prophecy and that she is key to breaking it, because it wouldn't have been broken if she hadn't been in the picture. and she wouldn't have been in the picture if whoever was 'responsible' for her didn't move her to hometown. fucking hell
susie and waterfall, man
won't go near alphys because she's embarrassed about the milk, sure. won't read shyra's grave (or won't let you). won't let you inside her house. won't call a guardian. 'my neighbor's daughter [...] synchronicity?' where did you come from, new girl?
i’m starting to think that all of that truce/double trucies/triple trucies stuff with kris in chapter 2 was meant to foreshadow the fact that they’re working for the knight …
so here’s my treasured collection of all the times kris is called either a liar or a cheater in chapters 3 and 4, because i think these moments serve a similar purpose:
guys I think Berdly might have been right ☹️

ok i need to know everybody's thought (or like evidence if i forgot something lmao. i haven't replayed ch1-2 in a while so i think my memory's not up to par)
did gerson teach secondary level or primary level before he fell down
primary level (replaced by toriel)
secondary level (replaced by alphys)
argument for secondary is the obvious gaster-gerson having alphys as their successor parallel, and also something said by one of the npcs in qc's diner about having been taught by gerson before? like i don't think grade schoolers take history (? is that even the subject that he taught or is that just fan interpretation.) also toriel's name on her classroom whiteboard iirc 'looks like it has been there for a while'.
argument for primary is that the unused classroom that presumably used to be his (evidenced by the alvin drawing?) contains teaching aids more suitable for primary level (toys, board games, plushies) (i wouldn't put it past him to gamify secondary level learning but occam's razor). also re: name marker being old enough it could be that toriel used to teach secondary, but then had to take gerson's place and continues teaching primary in her old classroom anyway, and then alphys has to teach secondary in another classroom.
anyway please do answer the poll regardless but now i'm thinking if there's a 'missing' or 'empty' level of edu in hometown's school now that dess asriel bp catti etc's cohort has graduated. like perhaps there used to be a middle school? like what are the unused classrooms for anyway. (blows off smoke) reminds me of gaster. the room between, there's always a room between, etc, etc, etc
i haaaaate HATE hate when people say 'dess is possessed! that's why she became the knight!' 'dess is dead and her corpse is controlled by someone/something else!' 'the knight is under the influence of something else!' have we learned nothing from flowey. have we been stuck in the same old bullshit interpretations from yore that insisted on separating asriel from flowey and pretending they're not the same kid. dess is the knight. it's literally just her inside. she likes to aurafarm, she's theatrical, she's mean, she's a sore loser. nobody else is 'influencing' or 'puppeting' dess any more than asriel was 'influenced' by chara to absorb their soul or chara was 'influenced' by the fate of monsterkind to sacrifice themself. the only interesting thing here is not who the knight is, it's how dess holiday came to be the knight.
also: have we considered that maybe dess became the knight out of her own volition? certainly it's a far cry from asriel, who became flowey due to circumstances out of his control, but it's not impossible that, misguided as she may be, she may have chosen to be monstrous on her own. something to think about.
I wish we got a better look at the spiky anime hair the Knight seems to have. A lot of people don't really register it and just draw them bald.
The fact that it blends into what's supposed to be a helmet (well it could be part of the helmet ig) makes me picture Dess having worn a black baseball cap that blended in with her hair. Kind of like Jotaro Kujo's hat
Any excuse to draw me uhhh the coolest girl ever
