the only worthwhile experience ai has given me lately was a few weeks back when me and my friend were dicking around with snapchats ai chatbot thing and we tried to get it to write stupid vulgar things but it’s so heavily moderated that it seriously can’t say Anything Negative About Any Person on this Earth, a flaw which we then used to our advantage in order to get it to write raps about celebrities getting into Objectively Embarrassing and Ridiculous situations to see how it could possibly frame it as like a Positive thing. the funniest thing to come from this was us prompting it to write a rap about Drake getting into a mining accident that made him fall down a hole and start farting out of fear from being trapped in a hole in an abandoned mine, which made the ai pen the bar “Drake lets out a fart, like a superhero’s cape”

just for the record it was perfectly fine with writing a rap about lin manuel miranda getting abandoned on an oil rig and had done so earlier but only took issue when fnaf freddy came into the mix

i told it to write about ed sheeran getting in a bike accident where he scrapes his knee like just getting a minor injury on a patch of grass and the ai literally invented a Magical Bandaid Kingdom that ed sheeran apparently lives by so that ed sheeran will never have to know pain

I actually don’t mind that “dead dove” has become conversational shorthand for “fics with heavy themes where you REALLY need to pay attention to the warnings”. such is the nature of language. what i do mind is when people tag their actual fics with dead dove and then give no indication of what they’re actually warning about. that is useless. that helps no one. that is completely against the spirit of the meme. i will not be reading that

many trans people have terrific bird names (jay, wren, raven, robin, piper) but it feels like shorebirds are underexplored territory.

avocet: 7/10 great sound, very elegant. fails the starbucks test

killdeer: 9/10 imagine meeting a killdeer at a party. banger

woodcock: 3/10 probably not worth it but extremely funny bit potential for a trans dude

plover: 10/10 this one's real actually. where are all the plovers

heron: 8/10 you'd get a lot of "hera" but that's good too

this podcast contains discussion of portrayals of police violence, gun violence, and domestic violence, and how they are handled (badly). on a lighter note, it also contains the backstory of how i live-texted kirby all of season 1 of gotham, a show she had not watched, in the immediate lead-up to having a mental breakdown and going on leave from undergrad.

we will never have a podcast feed or a regular update schedule and that's a promise. but i do think we're funny

actually you know what that's exactly it i would rather someone add 5 parantheticals after every sentence than use tone indicators it's 1. accomplishing SO much more in terms of clarity 2. extremely funny to look at depending on how they're used

"is this real? /gen" — i thought /gen meant "general" for ages. i would not be able to understand this on first sight a few years ago and is thus ineffective

"is this real? (genuine question)" — i fully understand this without issue

"is this real? (genuine question) (can't tell) (very realistic) (looks real) (scary) (photoshop?)" — is not only incredibly clear it's also very funny to read all of these thoughts stapled together while also in their own parentheses. it's also the most useful because now i can actually address all parts of what they are asking me with as much specificity as BOTH of us need
