Sir… Sir are you not worried about bumping the total station???
This fills me with anxiety.
I bumped the totals station once I thought my professor was going to murder me.

Past Me: -super excited about the chosen topic for an underwater archaeology paper-
Present Me: -still into the topic but no motivation to write said paper-
Me in about ten minutes: -i never want to hear about this ship ever again-
Me roughly an hour later: -enraged at Spanish Colonialism-
Archeologist 20,000 years after horses go extinct: *cries* I don’t
That comment is one of the most accurate things in studying history.
I can feel the pain already
Sometimes when I'm high I like to imagine arguments in the far future about what kind of milk or eggs were in our recipes. I hope the main opposing factions would be divided over whether the milk was from dogs or cats because "what other mammals were in the vast majority of households back then?"

So hey, I need everyone to go read this article written about the Hobby Lobby artifact theft saga, in the style of The Epic of Gilgamesh.
Hear the tale of United States of America v. Approximately Four Hundred Fifty Ancient Cuneiform Tablets and Approximately Three Thousand Ancient Clay Bullae.
This was the Hobby Lobby, the gathering place of many crafts
And briefly high-end cookwares but only briefly
Where men might come from many leagues distance and say in wonder, “This is a Hobby Lobby!”
And obtain many cubits of fabric for crafts projects ordained by Ea or by Ishtar
I’m in love with the woman who wrote this. I genuinely want to kiss her on the mouth.
SCUBA is an acronym for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. What you may not know is that Tuba is also an acronym.
For Terrible Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

Today I was the first person to log into my class and we had a guest speaker. My professor introduced me and told them I was one of her best students and a very hard worker! From this professor especially that means the world!
You know what I wanna know? Why's the Muncell book have like 7 pages of blue and teal chips? Who's soil is this bright blue? I know people use it for ceramics too but this is the soil book. Why's the soil book got anything comparable to blue China?
Anyway, new archaeology ask time: what's your most used pages? It's almost always 7.5YR with the occasional 10 or 5YR for me.
Right??? I've never seen any of those soils either. Most of the soil where I'm from is 10 YR or 7 YR, although we do get some that are more pink or orange. Those two pages are always the most used.

10 YR my beloved.

I work in the American Great Basin. We have bright blue and purple rocks here.
This is about twenty miles from my house.

My professor says he’s seen them but…….. seems suspect.
The areas I’ve worked in/that are around me are all 10R or 2.5 YR! Gotta love that red clay!

creepy and wet major alignment chart
Fixed it. Cultural anthropology might not be creepy, but the archaeologists are the weird cousins that fall under the anthropology umbrella
I’ll agree with the verdant, but anthropology is WAY more on the wet side of things. It’s messy. There are no clear rules. The mere existence of extensive field work means lots of wetness. Trust me on this, cultural anth is definitely wet, as is most every anthro major I’ve met.
petition to change all of academia’s “et al” to “& besties”
bad idea. do you have any idea how much i resent some of my co-authors? bad idea, bud.
#& besties for co authors i like#et al for ones i resent
being “neatly-groomed” in an office setting: considered “professional”, supposedly inspires confidence in your work ethic and expertise
being “neatly-groomed” as a mycologist or entomologist: inappropriate and unsettling, raises serious doubts about your commitment to your field
I dunno if I saw a guy in an expensive business suit and necktie but still fine rooting in the mud for worms I'd think he has everything figured out
I would assume he was having a breakdown
I completely forgot I bought new mugs and they were just laying in my closet 🥺 I know they are chipped, but i love them anyway. I would like to learn how to repair them if it's possible.
