I really don’t understand Shinn. He defends Stellar who is completely crazy and burns entire cities (and who killed Heine), and wants to kill Kira who protects innocent people.
I watched Gundam Seed Destiny dozens of times, I still find it stupid!
What do you think?
Shinn I find is an interesting character. (Imo I don’t think he deserves all the hate he gets) Shinn saw Stellar as a victim of war and saw himself in her: a victim of war, no parents or family, and all alone. Then there’s Stellar’s childlike airheadness and vulnerability which drew a sorta of desire to protect her. She was being manipulated and all this was not of her own will or doing and when Shinn realized that, he couldn’t blame her for her actions. This reminds me of people who are labelled NCR (Not Criminally Responsible) after committing horrible acts because they were not in the right state of mind.
Also, Shinn didn’t know Kira nor did he understand that Kira was just like him and wanted to end the war and protect the things and people that mattered most to him. I could be wrong but I was under the impression that Shinn and the crew of the Minerva (Athrun included) blamed the Freedom and the Archangel for Heine’s death and not Stellar. I guess in the chaos of the battle they just associated his destruction with Kira?
I totally understand your opinion about Shinn and Stellar. That's why I love Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny, because it's not all white or black. it lets think for a long time. It is true that Stellar is a victim but Shinn who attacks Kira and the Freedom while Kira only tries to end the destruction of the cities is simply stupid. And even Shinn, before seeing that it was Stellar in the following mobile, intended to put an end to this destruction. His heart supplants his brain.
For Heine, it's pretty hard. Because Athrun knows that Kira doesn’t kill anyone but disarms people. So he suspected that it was one of the evolved. But I think it goes further and for them, if Kira had not intervened, Heine would not have been killed by Stellar. But with some, we redo the world ...

It’s okay to cry...because we are able to.
