she pursed her lips at his excuse , but kaia let it go rather quickly , after all , everybody said stupid shit at times , could she really hold it against the man for saying something stupid without thought ? she leaned back slightly , lifting her brows at his words , crossing her arms over her body , “ you’re really into pet names , huh ? ” kaia didn’t know the man , couldn’t place him for even a moment , but then again , why would she ? kaia ventured back and forth between south and north side for work and home , and she never really paid any attention to anybody outside of work , though boo’s words were ringing in her mind at this point .
the woman shifted her weight from one foot to another , glancing archie over as he continued , “ well , you can unstick your nose , or I’ll unstick it for you – I have an acute phobia of people prying into my personal life . ” maybe the guy was only trying to harmlessly flirt , but kaia didn’t often respond well to men , let alone those who were so bold in their interest , if that’s what this was . she leaned over the counter to place her order , and turned briefly to look back at the man , “ aren’t you going to ask me my name , since you’re so damn chatty . ”
“Again, as it appears we have arrived at a common motto shared between us thus far, the pet names inherently slip out by accident. I know some inherit the opinion they’re demeaning, demoralizing, but using the term love is not as vulgar as using, say, baby.” No, Archie would wait until the opportunity arose to introduce such phrases into their vernacular at least when the pair gathered a better understanding of the other, their physical attributes, their darkest secrets lay bare at the altar of quite the madness. He owned the power chipping away at someone’s walls before they eventually crumbled. Kaia wouldn’t be easy. She would not be the woman to swoon at his advances, at his showering attention, he doubted that is exactly what Kaia wanted. She was the lawyer, the warrior handling the burdens of Moretti business, she was the perfect muse and even more so perfect twin flame sure to keep the man on his toes.
Archie opened his mouth to spit another comment, but the pleasant surprise by her candor sent the assassin cracking a playful grin instead. “Funny, you remind me of someone I know. You’re a woman who fears very little, if at all, there is that vibe I sense.” He cut himself off on saying anything else on the matter, instead, his gaze followed Kaia like a hawk as she ordered her coffee, appreciating the view from the back that did not hover over one particular area. Archie’s gaze shot to the display of pastries distractedly when the woman turned, but floated it towards her with slight casualness. “Only fair when you haven’t asked mine.” Trust me, I know exactly who you are. “Archibald. Archie, and before you comment as most do, I know it’s old-fashioned. It’s like my parents expected me to be evil.” He allowed the statement to sit and then, “Kidding. I’m only slightly.”
