I got a silly little picture of all the Wavys talking at once, but this is my first run until I hear something about Easter Eggs. I'm not super thrilled with this, but it's a good demo.

What have we learned?

Dexter's right all the time.

Wavy is the best orca in the whole wide world and has never done anything wrong.

Neither of these observations will be proven wrong in the full game.

I'm about to graduate, and now that everyone's making summer plans, I'm trying to ignore how nobody looks at me when my friend is around. It's fine, I like them better than everyone else too, but it's disheartening.

Also, running an online game is hard as hell when nobody's playing and I have no reason to continue. I refuse to beg, I have my pride, but I want somebody to see it. I feel like a ghost, and not in the cool way.

I know everyone goes through this, especially on Tumblr where there's basically no algorithm. Millions of people are trying to make it big on every imaginable social media, from Instagram to YouTube to fucking Artfight.

But I've gotten a taste of attention in the last year IRL, with friends who actually want to hear about me, and I fear I'm addicted. One of the blogs I was following got addicted to attention for real, and I believe he killed himself. It doesn't help. Unfortunately, to quit would be to isolate myself completely. I'm very happy with who I am, I just want to be seen.

Got called a performative male for reading Kabuki: Metamorphosis at the amusement park today but IT'S SO FREAKING GOOD.

The art style changes, but it usually looks like watercolors and it's sooo pretty! And dare I say wlw representation? I personally ship Kabuki and Akemi because they kissed twice and said they loved each other, but I think my favorite character ended up being M.C. Square.

I got it from a used book sale on Columbus Day, so I didn't actually read the first four comics (oops) but Akemi isn't even in them and I thought Metamorphosis worked well alone. They explain everything anyway, I thought it was a stand-alone. There's a whole series after Metamorphosis, though, and Akemi's supposed to have a bigger role, so I might read those. I don't want to read backwards for this series, I think it would be unsatisfying.

seems like we don't even really know what the letters are. My mutual has a theory, but I personally don't see it.

The theory was PYVOJnirhiex, if that helps. I thought the first letter was an F, but there are in fact two columns of emojis so maybe the spacing got messed up? The H would have also gotten split in half. I'm on mobile, so maybe that's where I'm getting messed up?

Base64 is gibberish.

i considered putting it in Viginere, PYVOJ on one side and nirhiex on the other, but it would be uneven.

Legit question from a white guy with little patience: how do we feel about vonnegut? I couldn't finish cat's cradle cuz of how a couple of the chars are written but someone who did might be able to tell me where on this spectrum he falls.

not to derail this post as another white guy, but I just finished Slaughterhouse Five and I was very unimpressed by how he portrayed women specifically.

Valencia Marble, the main character's wife, is described as fat and ugly multiple times. Billy doesn't even want to propose to her, he only does it because she's rich. She also has a fantasy where she's the queen of England and Billy is Christopher Columbus or something? She's awful representation of a woman, especially an overweight one.

I don't want to label Kurt Vonnegut a misogynist, because I'm not an expert on his work, but this is how I felt reading Slaughterhouse Five. To tie this back to OP, maybe it was progressive for the love interest to be fat, but calling Valencia a love interest is a stretch considering that Billy didn't seem to love her.

How The Gods Kill

I would rather die than break character within the game, even though nobody will see me do it, so all my thoughts will go here, on my main blog.

We've been live for a couple months, I think? Since I made the post. I totally forgot what a nightmare it is to try to get attention on this site, which is crazy because I'm following a bunch of people who complain constantly about not getting notes.

Instead of trying to spam tags that the characters wouldn't use, I'm just playing every role myself. This is a story that I've been working on for a while, so I have no problem playing the main characters I already love and sending myself asks when I want interaction. My friend Neosporin has been sending asks to Caius, whose URL I don't remember right this second. (Edit: it's literally just @caius-adler.)

I'm essentially running two glorified roleplay blogs right now. Why make a puzzle if nobody's around to solve it? But I still consider How The Gods Kill an ARG because I welcome other players. If you want to add a character who's seen a god or something else supernatural, come on in. The door's open. If you have theories, Charles at @where-the-baptized-drown would be happy to hear them. If you don't have anything to add, feel free to just follow and watch the story unfold. I have a vague idea of where we're going from here, but I want to rope in another source that isn't a Tumblr blog and I'm figuring out how to do that before the next plot point.
