just watching wemmbu get like 1009 times more destructive when he doesn’t have a teammate. Eggs captured and you can see him fully giving up on truly getting his friend back and ever being able to be safe together.

we watch him use himself as bait for his whole fight, yeah wemmbu, leap into the webs and blow yourself up to get the ppl around you, popping a totem in the meanwhile. Sure, drop bombs and light shit and destroy everything. Asking people to keep fighting you, not restocking (visibly to the audience) other than more bombs, more destruction

it’s interesting because you don’t see these tactics from him normally, it’s a lot of blowing up but (from what I remember) he doesn’t usually dive into webs and call out super loudly as bait. We don’t even see him do this when he’s fighting with Jaden in the beginning of the episode. maybe bc he doesn’t want his teammate getting caught up in it to try and save him. But still, we’re watching what wemmbu turns into without egg or Jaden or flame or a teammate. He just becomes a weapon, point and destroy.

I wonder if the reason why Spoke is often held to higher standards than anyone else on Unstable (including the villains that caused the deaths of thousands, committed mass kidnappings, coerced thousands into joining their criminal enterprise, or abused him in particular) is because he's an unreliable narrator in a way people aren't used to.

Spoke has a tendency to hold onto guilt far more than any of the other protagonists. He sees himself as worse than he actually factually is. And he claims often to be evil (examples: he had a whole speech trying to convince Jumper not to work with him even when their goals aligned because he saw himself as not good enough, he tried to point out to Jamato that what he was doing was fucked up by saying "you're just as evil as me" when Jamato is just objectively so much worse) and holds himself accountable for things he wouldn't judge others for (see him not getting upset at all at Vix for having made escape plans that didn't include him despite having thought it important to clarify every time that even if he escaped he'd come back to free everyone, or even his only judging Jamato for his continuos use of exploits only after finding the water in the Nether despite having been made to feel like a monster for ever exploiting in the first place himself).

Usually, unreliable narrators are more so used to minimize the flaws of a character's actions, not to enhance them. And I wonder if this twist to the norm is what throws people off so much. If most don't notice the unreliability of his narration at all. Or if they notice it, but somehow mistake it for minimizing instead.

So what has Spoke done? He killed Rose and a bunch of Jumper's spies. All relatively innocent characters that didn't need to die.

What is one prominent character that hasn't?

He stole. Like literally everyone else. Lied and manipulated, like literally everyone else.

He threatened to blow up Capital City. Wemmbu actually carried through with it and without any reasonable justification for it.

Wemmbu also exploded Highwater, sacrificing thousands for Egg. Flame joined a faction whose stated goal is to kill all the new people (literally murdering immigrants as a solution to systemic problems that existed well before their arrival). And Parrot rushed into opening Spawn when he didn't have food production or safety under control, which led to the deaths of presumably thousands.

And yet the judgment toward them is nowhere near as harsh as it is for the one guy who's done nothing that egregious because they're all standard unreliable narrators. They present themselves better. They see themselves as heroes or as justified in some way...

More rambling about Spoke’s potentially non-existent villain arc.

I think the biggest theme we’ve seen emerging from Spoke’s POV is the cycle of villains.

The usual counterargument I see in media against the whole ‘there will always be another villain’ thing is that there will always be people to keep said villain in check. It’s a cycle, yes, but with enough resistance and determination, villains will always be defeated. We see this with Spoke going up against Ash, and kind of Jamato going up against Spoke.

Spoke defeated Ash, but accidentally continued the cycle by being enabled by people like (sorry) Mapicc. Now Jamato’s back, trying to take Spoke down like Spoke did Ash, but the circumstances are extremely different.

If Jamato’s actions turn Spoke into a villain, I think that Spoke and Ash’s stories need to be handled differently. In my opinion Spoke is by far the more sympathetic villain out of the two, not only because we have his POV, but also because he genuinely believes that he’s protecting the server and his friends. Ash was defeated after he lost his source of power: the mafia. He may come back, but so far we have no evidence that he’s cooking up any evil plans off-screen. On the contrary, we’ve seen Spoke lose what’s most important to him (Mapicc) and instead of backing down, he literally almost bombed Capital City.

So yeah, Ash gets defeated when he loses his army, but Spoke only gets more desperate and damaging, so I think if Spoke becomes a villain next, it’ll have to be handled differently than how Ash was. Ash was defeated because his power was stripped away, but Spoke’s villainy is more of an internal battle. Jamato is trying to defeat Spoke the wrong way by taking everything he loves, when it’s already proven that doesn’t cause Spoke to stop.

I think the biggest question for Spoke’s villain arc is if he’s self-aware or not. We’ve been waiting for so long for someone like Jamato to come by and hit him with the realization that he’s been destroying everything, so him choosing to be a villain even after becoming self-aware would disrupt with the cycle of sparing villains to defeat them. Spoke is clearly very motivated because he thinks he’s in the right, so I don’t think him deciding to go against his morals and become a self-aware villain like Ash would work for his character. As much as he hates Jamato, the only reason he’s trying to kill him is because in some twisted way he thinks it’s protecting him and Mapicc from a villain. I think Spoke’s villain arc would be motivated like all of his other crimes have been: thinking he’s in the right, and going way too far.

That’s why I think Mapicc will have to be a big player if Spoke ever outright rejects his morals and chooses to become a villain. Mapicc is the one who reinvigorated Spoke’s determination to defeat Ash after killing IMajesticRose. Mapicc is the one who stood by Spoke as he spared Ash. Mapicc is basically Spoke’s entire moral compass, so if Spoke ever becomes a villain, Mapicc is his only chance at forgiving himself and choosing to be better. If Mapicc never forgives Spoke, I don’t think Spoke will survive his villain arc.

But the problem with this is that Mapicc started out keeping Spoke in check but then it slipped away from him, and now Spoke is obsessively manipulating Mapicc onto his side until recently when Spoke slipped up and now Mapicc hates him. If Spoke became a villain, would Mapicc remember how Spoke spared Ash and do the same for him? Because Mapicc literally almost killed Spoke after learning how Spoke manipulated him. The Spoke and Mapicc that spared Ash are gone, and while I think it’s a neat circle for Spoke to spare Ash and then be spared after be becomes a villain himself, the circumstances are so different that even if it’s proven to be the end of the cycle, it really depends if the characters can remember back to when they were morally good.

(And about the whole Mapicc being an enabler—after the mafia arc, Mapicc didn’t seem to have any qualms about killing their enemies. In the last episode of the mafia arc when they’re trying to warn surrounding kingdoms of Ash’s approaching mafia, Spoke and his group are betrayed. Spoke almost kills them but Mapicc steps in. This is the last time Mapicc stands up for their enemies. Why didn’t he think of the diamond players while Spoke was fighting them in the void? Why didn’t he think of the BAT members they killed in battle? So yeah, Mapicc corrected Spoke once, but since then he’s only gone along with him. Admittedly, Spoke choosing to keep secrets of his crimes behind Mapicc’s back proves that Spoke thinks Mapicc is more ethical than him, but even then Spoke’s morality is incredibly dependent on Mapicc, like how devastated Spoke was after his and Mapicc’s fight. Even if Mapicc and Spoke have both become less moral, Mapicc is still the key that could change Spoke for the better.)

Okay, so what if the world of Unstable Smp and Searching For A World That Doesn’t Exist, are actually connected?

In Destroying a World That Doesn’t Exist, Wifies is playing a characterized version of himself that searches for weird Minecraft videos on YouTube and investigates them. And in the series we know that both Avery and d3rLord3 enjoy watching Minecraft YouTubers. Since Avery makes references to Kenadian and Grian, and b/c d3rLord recognizes the Parkour Civilization reference in the library.

Then at very end of the video, d3rLord himself makes a fairly blatant Unstable Smp reference. (the whole ‘Your universe is looking a little unstable’). And of course, keep in mind that d3rLord (with his infinite knowledge) would know that Wifies of all people would be the one voice acting him in the video.

And now we have Parrots new Unstable video: Searching for a Civilization that Doesn’t Exist. Where Parrot is making subtle references to SFAWTDE, the King in Yellow, and to Wifies.

So wouldn’t it be cool, if Avery and/or D3rLord were actually fans of the Unstable Smp Universe?

Or, even wilder.

What if the Unstable Smp universe and SFAWTDE universe actually take place in the same universe?

Meaning the character version of Wifies in the SFAWTDE universe could be the same person as the one who was Parrot’s friend on the Unstable Smp. Just something fun to think about.
