impossible year // panic! at the disco
“I’m on the fence. The way 2016 has been, I’d love to see the world get better but if it gets any worse, I think I’ll be praying for a nuclear bomb to take us out.”
“I wish the world could get better, I really do. In reality, it won’t. So I could only hope for a boring 2017.”
“— We actually have one of those?”
“Surprisingly, yes.”
Jade for ‘Our World’
“Really? What class is it? Maybe I could switch one of mine to it.”
Cobie returned her stare into blank space, “Hm. Well, confident girls are hot, but most of them need to be taken down a peg. Good for a lay, not long term, in most cases. A sense of humor is a good thing, but really anyone who can stand my lame material deserves a medal. Smart girls are fun, but when I say that, they also need to be reasonable. I want a deep thinker who isn’t afraid to debate with me, on whether a certain movie was good, or whether I need to stop wearing revealing clothes because I’m taken, yet still be cool with me f I don’t always agree. Nice girls are great as well. I mean nice as in a nice person, not like a good girl. Although, the innocent ones are the most fun to corrupt.” She glanced over at Ari and grinned, brushing a strand of hair away from her face, “But I’m a needy person, so for a girl to be a keeper, I need them to appreciate me. Appreciate my affections, and be affectionate in return. Appreciate what I can give or do, and be just as giving. If you give yourself to me, I’ll give myself to you.” A pause came and Cobie got an uncomfortable look on her face, “Sorry, that was a bit much. You know how I overshare. You should have stopped me.”
Arialla tensed up, “Journalism or something along the lines. Um, I’m sure they don’t allow class changes. Our class is pretty full and you could always request doing it next year.”
She wrote down the emotional traits with a uncomfortable look on her face, mainly summarizing them. Putting her notepad and pencil away, she looked up and pulled off a soft smile. “Oh no, the more the merrier. Your perfect girl sounds really nice, just um...” She lifted her hand up. “Finger cramp or whatever it’s called.” Putting her hand back down, Ari reached into her other pocket to grab a bundle of money to hand over to Cobie. “I also came over because I need a little something for next week.”
Ari & Cobie
Cobie: Yeah, it's made me sick and throw up, before. Which incidentally, made me more hungry.
Cobie: But do I? Things just don't seem like they're on the upswing, as of late. Especially when it comes to the people who "claim" they care about me.
Ari: i always throw up on chili day :/
Ari: listen, i know it's hard to trust these days but one day you'll feel differently about this. anybody who doesn't care about you is completely stupid, you're so amazing
Ari: plus it sort of doesn't matter since most of us won't talk to each other after high school
Ari & Cobie
Cobie: Hopefully. I'm just stressed. Girl's gotta eat, ya know?
Cobie: Thanks, Ari. It's hard to trust many after that whole thing. I thought me and Spencer were tight, you know?
Ari: yep, free cafeteria food does not make the stomach happy enough
Ari: i know, what she did was not cool at all. but now you know your trustworthy/loyal customers and friends now
Cobie raised an eyebrow, “Yeah? Sounds like an interesting class. I want a project like that, rather than, ‘write an essay about what you did over the Summer.’ For real. Can they be less original?”
Cobie walked closer. putting her hands on her hips, hooking her thumbs in the waistband on her tight jeans, looking thoughtful, “I don’t really have much of a type. Good sex is a plus, but I guess there needs to be a reason to get that far, at least, most of the time. My favorite traits are mixed skin(not too dark, not too light), full lips(they’re fun to suck on), curvy body(although, athletic girls also hold a special place in my heart).” Something visibly dawns on her, as she’s speaking, “I probably should’ve specified on whether you wanted physical or something else. I could give emotional traits, as well?”
“Mmm-hmm, it’s the only class I’m not struggling with,” she said while getting her notepad and pencil out. “Those types of questions are the ones that make me regret not dropping out of school.”
Arialla wrote down each and every word that Cobie spoke, her smile dropping a tad bit after hearing the words ‘curvy.’ She knew she was anything but that. “Well yeah, my teacher said emotional, physical, and anything else.”
Ari & Cobie
Cobie: Just praying to a God that I don't believe in. ;)
Cobie: I'm as well as possible. First week, everyone wants to set a good example, so I'm not getting many customers. And I was already down on profits after Spencer fucked me over.
Ari: aw, sorry bout that. i'm sure things will change in a week or so
Ari: well trust, this customer is never going to go to spencer anytime
“I’m sure you’ll make it out alive. A bit tattered perhaps but still alive.”
Arialla laughed in pain and humor, mostly in pain. “If I do make it out alive, then I’ll die in 2017, which is much better than dying in 2016.”
“I totally left my folder somewhere and that folder has all my notes and paperwork which means I have no idea what homework I was actually supposed to do. I’m fucked.”
“Have you looked in lost and found?”
Cobie looked up, from her spot against the wall behind the furthest building on campus. It was the most secluded outdoor area without leaving school grounds. She smirked, “Hello, there. What is it Cobie can do for you today?”
“There’s this project in one of my classes where we have to ask everyone we can about ‘their type,’” Arialla lied said, making air quotations at the last two words. “So... What’s your type?”
Ari & Cobie
Cobie: Hey, Songbird!
Cobie: Haven't seen you recently. How is your start to the new year?
Ari: hello, cobie!
Ari: i'm still alive but i'm barely breathing, wbu?
“Winters? What classes are you taking?” Dorothy manages a smile, one too small but there’s not a tinge of vindictiveness in it. “I’m not here to traumatize you, Arialla — just here to make small talk and maybe even help you survive the year.”
Arialla furrowed her eyebrows, not knowing whether to trust if she was tricking her or not. “Dorothy, are you feeling okay? Need some medicine? Or am I dreaming?”
“…Giacomo’s whatnow?”
“It’s an opera, I don’t listen to opera music as much as I listen to classical, but...” A grin grew on her face, “Giacomo’s music is the ultimate exception. I always listen to ‘La Bohème’ whenever I’m stressed.” The grin dropped when she realized she was talking too much about something the other didn’t care about. “Sorry, I’ll stop talking about it.”
