A New York Moment 🏙️
I was on my way to the subway, when a man started yelling at me “Train! Train! It’s coming! Train!” We’re both a block away and I realize he’s alerting me that we need to BOOK it. We both run a block to the train as it approaches the station. I swipe in and walk through the turnstile, but then turn around and find that the man tries swiping and didn’t have enough on his metrocard. I watch as he rushes to the machine, where I then yell at him, “Hey hey! Come here!” He comes over and we successfully swipe him in from my end of the turnstile.
One flight of steps later, we both make it onto the subway train. 🚉
“What a privilege to clean a home that was made dirty by a healthy child playing, dishes were dirtied because we ate 3 meals, and laundry needed to be done because. we all had clothes to wear today.”
I don’t think there are any words that that can fully express the thoughts and feelings about our world right now. My heart is hurting everyday so much for the hundreds and thousands of innocent families being killed every day in Israel & Gaza. My Lord. Who are we? Where is our collective humanity? What about the children? What about the babies? We are monsters.
I feel so helpless, wrapped up that this mourning cannot even be a fraction of what these innocent peoples must be feeling as they lose their loved ones left and right. It is done at the privilege and convenience of happening under the roof of my home, with food on the table, with my loving partner at school, with my sweet baby in my arms and my pup at my feet. These things I do not and must not take for granted.
I pray everyday that this hatred and hurt ends.
small things I really love.
the shampoo conditioner head massage you get right before you get a haircut.
meeting a fellow book lover out in the wild (lol, real life) and bonding over books you’ve read / recommendations.
ruffley floral socks.
chipping away at personal projects and crafts over time - without the rush and pressure of hustle, hustle, hustle.
the time between waking up and getting up during the weekends or days off, lying in bed.
dinners not in front of the television and general non screen time moments.
