I have a somewhat strange fixation on these photos, I keep coming back to them again and again. It really feels like magic…
By the time the shoot ended, it was already so late that the building felt different.
The hallways were half-empty, the lights softer and the echo of distant conversations sounded muted, as if even the studio itself was tired after so many hours awake. They had spent the entire day surrounded by people: makeup, cameras, wardrobe changes, assistants coming in and out constantly. Everything fast. Everything continuous.
And yet, the only thing they had both truly been waiting for was this.
Not to go home.
But to find each other again without interruptions.
Huddy appeared first at the end of the corridor, still wrapped in the Team Canada fleece from set, tousled, with that tired, gentle expression of someone who no longer has the energy to pretend they are less exhausted than they really are.
And the moment he saw Connie approaching, he smiled.
Small. Automatic.
That kind of smile that just appears on its own when your favorite person walks into the room.
“Come here,” he murmured, almost voiceless.
He didn’t even need to say it twice.
Connie walked straight toward him and, as soon as he was close enough, simply melted into his body with complete trust, hiding his face in the curve of his neck. As if that place had been made exactly for him.
One hand slowly slid up his arm until their fingers intertwined over his chest, while Connie tilted his head slightly to rest it against his and stole a brief kiss at his neck... They stayed like that, swaying just barely, exhausted and peaceful at the same time.
And then came that kind of silence that only exists between people who know each other too well.
Full of all the little things that no longer needed to be said:
“I found you.”
“It’s over now.”
“I’m here.”
“You can rest.”
“You survived”, Connie whispered with a tenderness so natural it almost hurt.
Because maybe love is not always something grand or impossible to ignore.
Sometimes it is just this.
The quiet relief of the day finally ending, of the noise fading away… and of knowing that no matter how long or heavy everything gets, there is always a place you can come back to.
I can’t wait for season 2 preparations to begin… it already feels like it’s going to be softer, heavier and somehow even more intense than the first one. More sweetness, more heartbreak, more everything in between.
And I’m not sure I’m ready for any of it…
