“who said anyone has ever taken me seriously?” he scoffed. “what’s it about?” danny rested her laptop on his lap and looked at the screen, scrolling around for a bit before going back to where it was. “i’m not even trying to be sassy, ariel, i just fucking woke up. but thanks?”

“um, good point.” she smiled a little. “well, this one is about a girl finding herself in the world that is screaming at her who she supposed to be and supposed to do, like get a boyfriend, have kids, stuff like that. but she decides to defy the rules, mostly because, she’s actually gay so the whole boyfriend thing is out of the question. and yeah, you got to read it,” ariel tried her best not to go on and tell him the entire story, something she have done before. she roughed up his hair a bit, “no problem, danny boy.”

danny took a bite, already dying because the good taste in his mouth. he looks at ariel, cheeks full and a judging look on his face. “there’re two things in the world i could focus on. this,” he lifted his sandwich a little, “and reading something. nothing can stop me. so whatever’s you’ve got, you can show me.”

ariel chuckled a little, “how can anyone take you serious when you do things like this?” she handed him her laptop after she logged in. “also if that’s your way on bringing some sass, it’s not working for you, you’re leaning toward the adorable and dorky side and not the sarcastic side.”

“i’ll be fine.” he waved her off, taking out the sandwich he spotted inside the bag. “go wherever you want, i don’t care.” he said as he passed her and walked towards the living room, sitting on the couch and taking the sandwich he spotted in the bag out.

“good,” she ran her free hand through her hair as she couldn’t help but judge him now. he was so wrapped up in the food but she knew she should’ve expected it. ariel decided to follow him into the living room and sit next to him before crossing her legs. “i’m going to let you eat before showing you the story,” she muttered as she logged into her laptop.

danny raised a fist to rub his eye tiredly, and put his glasses on. he couldn’t believe he was starting to need to wear them for purposes that didn’t involve reading or writing. an instant smile appeared on his face at the sight of the bad of food. “i woke up a little while before you banged on the door, actually, but thanks.” he was busy looking into the bag’s contents, half paying attention to her. “yeah.. yeah, sure. come in.”

she shook her head a little, “good thing then, hopefully you won’t get a headache but no problem.” ariel wasn’t in the position to judge him but she did find it funny on how wrapped up he was at looking at the food she got him. she walked pass him into the apartment, “wanna go to the kitchen or living room to look at the story?” she wondered.

the banging on the door surprised him, since he had slept all day today after writing so much the night before, and he had just woken up five minutes ago. danny scratched his head lazily and opened the door with barely open eyes. “what do you want?”

ariel couldn’t help but laugh a little, before handing him the bag. “food, since you were obviously sleeping also this is my apology for waking you up. also i just finished a short story and i wanted your opinion,” she held her laptop up a little. “can i come in or are you going to be upset with me for the rest of the day? even though it’s like 4 in the afternoon.”

ariel hated waiting for the elevator so she ran down the stairs, for once without heels so it wouldn’t hurt later as she made her way to the right apartment, banging on the door in excitement with her laptop against her chest with her free hand as a bag for apologising later dangled, “danny! you better be home!”

“Yeah, don’t worry much about it.” Ariel removed her hand from his shoulder and crossed them across her chest. She kept the smile on her face, “no problem. From one writer to another, it’s our duty to help each other out. How many of these do you have?”

“Oh really? I d-didn’t expect that one.” She laughed a little. “But yeah. T-things definitely change.”

“When I moved it the only thing I had was the things in here and it was that way until he moved in and well, yeah.” She shrugged, chuckling. “Sometimes change is good, other times it’s a complete disaster,” she spoke from personal experiences. She looked at her laptop, putting her password in before resting it on her lap so she could find the file she was looking for.

“Oh.. Makes sense.. I never told you who they were exactly, though..” He trailed off, a little confused on how she knew he was connected to them when he never mentioned names. Danny was about to answer her when she cut him off and told him he didn’t have to answer; he had to admit he was relieved. “Not when every single person says the same exact thing.” He said as he took out the manuscript he seemed to always carry with him in his bag, and gave it to her.

“Danny, they talk about you and I like asking questions,” she chuckled as she pat his shoulder. Ariel was a little surprised that he had his manuscript on him, she wasn’t brave enough to do that if she had a finished book. “True, but just remember as long as you like it, it can’t be that bad after all as a writer, you are your biggest critic. But I promise to be as blunt as possible when I give you a report back on this.” She smiled, taking it. She looked at the title before looking at him. “If it really good can I keep it forever?”
