Monthly Residency with MAYNE

Canadian producer, Shagabond, pleases our ears again with his latest track, “Yao.” He tastefully reimagines Chris Brown’s 2005 hit, “Yo (Excuse me Miss).” Zephyrous synths and groove-inducing percussives, paired with the original vocals create an aural dreamland. Whether it be a remix or original, Shagabond always draws us in. He is one to definitely keep an ear out for!

Today’s MOCD Sunday ReSet highlights Chris McClenney’s (formerly MisterMack) latest work, Improvisations, This EP is his second solo piano album. Many of you may not know that aside from being a producer and muli-instrumentalist representing both Flow-Fi and Soulection, he studies jazz piano performance at the University of Maryland. With Improvisations , just as the title suggests, Chris took a spur-of-the-moment approach in creating the three compositions, using his emotions as a compass for each piece. One can hear the beauty there is in acoustic music that can be easily dismissed in a music industry reigned by electronic music. Whether you’re in a reflective mood or just need something to ease your mind, this album is suitable for just that. We hope Improvisations invigorates your Sunday as much as it has ours.

Today’s MOCD Sunday ReSet features a mix titled, “L o v e S p e l l,” by a SoundCloud user known as tiffatty. Delicately pieced together from her vinyl collection, this sequence is composed of 70’s jazz, soul, and R&B classics that will enrapture your mind. It’s easy to tell Tiff is a lover and connoisseur of music.
