"how do you know it's the right choice?" "honestly? because it's yours" // "i wanna believe that if i can just think six steps ahead i can save you" // "it only took me two days to see how special you are" DO YOU GUYS KNOW YOU ARE ON SEASON TWO RIGHT NOW ?????///??///?
luke pulling that bracelet out of a family sized pack of cereal, which isn't that important until thalia tells annabeth they're a family now. luke making up "the goddess kelloggnia's charm" to give little annabeth hope, which isn't that important unless you realize that the gods are the reason annabeth loses her family. little annabeth losing the bracelet and going back to look for it, which she believes caused thalia's death, and then finding it, all those years later, sitting in that sewer, when thalia is dead and luke isn't family anymore and there's another child of the big 3 who is in her life now. annabeth throwing the charm into the ocean because it doesn't mean anything now, which isn't that important until it COMES BACK, just like her guilt and her grief does, over and over again. the OCEAN, bringing back the guilt and fear of the charm. annabeth, finding the charm in the hands of a cyclops, who isn't anything like the ones who tried to hurt her, but she's on a boat with an angry demigod with something to prove and a child of the big 3, so it doesn't matter if the cyclops is good or not. she throws the charm back into the ocean, throwing her old fears in a mixing pot with her new ones, and feeling like she's 7 years old again.
percy telling annabeth that thalia loved her and saw how great she was because he can see it too, he saw it immediately. percy telling annabeth that nothing has gone right for them, so why not try and do the right thing as long as they do it together, and maybe they'll make it out like they have before. annabeth, knowing that it's false hope, listening and nodding yes. the bracelet doesn't come back.
every episode is just percy saying something so unflinchingly loyal to annabeth that her brain shuts down for a few seconds
best friend and lovers, what a lovely thing to be
plenty of sea in the fish or some shit like that idfk
"if i was orpheus i would simply not turn around" yes you would. if you were orpheus and you loved eurydice, you would. to love someone is to turn around. to love someone is to look at them. whichever version of the myth — he hears her stumble, he can't hear her at all, he thinks he's been tricked — he turns around because he loves her. that's why it's a tragedy. because he loves her enough to save her. because he loves her so much he can't save her. because he will always, always turn around. "if i was orpheus i would simply —" you wouldn't be orpheus. you wouldn't be brave enough to walk into the underworld and save the person you love. be serious
This isn't even a hot take, but Percabeth weren't smart x dumb. They weren't even book smart x street smart. They were strategic x strategic. Their minds worked in very similar ways that complimented eachother. It's why they were such great friends, it's why they were a formidable team, hell, it's why they could fight a war against a deity with an army of forty fricking kids and win. They shared their braincells, in the most beautiful sense of the phrase and THAT'S why, for me, they're perfect together.
Dropping a very special Sketch-a-wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for August! The winning request was to illustrate an off-page scene from The Folk of the Air series, when Cardan was writing his letters to Jude. I countered that Cardan went through the five stages of grief writing those letters, and each deserved it's own illustration. (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance) You'll also notice some familiar outfits throughout! Have a great weekend. :)
annabeth chase is hated on the most because of the fact that she is the most 'human' out of all the characters.
like out of all the books (that she's present for) annabeth chase is the one who cries the most. she also experiences the most human emotions like jealousy, envy, anger, loss and grief (both for luke, before and after he died). the haters don't like that. they don't like a strong female lead who has emotions that makes her "weak." they want a female lead who throws her emotions away and is submissive does whatever the male lead wants her to do with no ability to think for herself.
the one emotion my girl is ALWAYS being shamed for is jealousy/envy of someone else as if we all haven't at one point in our lives been jealousy of someone. put your selves in her shoes before you start talking abt her.
no one has ever stuck around for her. she genuinely tried so hard to keep everyone that's ever come into her life and none of them have stuck around.
and then she meets percy jackson, a guy who she is NOT supposed to get along with because her mom hates him and she would be expected to hate him because she wants to make her mom proud and acknowledge her. and yet they go on a quest and she realizes that he's not that bad and they become best friends.
fast forward a couple of quests and he's proven to her that he will never leave her side and he isn't like the rest and then one day he shows up with some random mortal girl and then they take over her quest and she lets them, because its the only way to save camp, but that doesn't mean she has to be happy about it.
and then she has one more year with him before she loses him to the great prophecy and she doesn't even see him anymore because he spends all of his time away from camp. and she doesn't want them mad at each other but they just can't seem to get along and suddenly, if feels to her as if he's like everyone else, he found someone better than her and he left.
'oh but why didn't she realize that he had feelings for her earlier?' (dumbest question i've ever heard btw)
my girl only saw him 4-5 weeks out of the year (52 weeks), and that's why she genuinely couldn't tell if he liked her or not. and even if he did, did he like her in a 'i want to date you' way or a summer fling kinda way.
so NO annabeth chase slander will be tolerated.
Summer always turned Hermione’s hair lighter, and this was no exception. A number of sandy gold strands laced her normal curtain of fringe, though she’d grown it out. When she smiled, her teeth were white and clear of metal. - Chapter 32 of Lionheart by @greenerteacups I read Lionheart last weekend and could not get it out of my head. i love these nerds so much <3
James and Lily over the years.
under the mistletoe they wish each other (and you) a happy new year
Why do people make it look like it's Sirius who goes along with whatever james wants when it's clearly the other way round?
In the one scene we get from their teenage years it's pretty clear that james is the one who keeps trying to get Sirius's attention. He looks for Sirius's reaction after he yawns hugely and ruffles his hair in the exam hall, then stops showing off only for Sirius (despite his inflated ego being a huge part of his personality at the time), and bullies Snape because Sirius just says he's bored. Personally I see Sirius as having a more independent personality that doesn't rely on external validation, given that he rejected his family's pure blood ideology and ran away at 16, while james at that age was ruffling his hair to look like he just got off his broom, showing off with the snitch, enjoying wormtail's admiration, constantly looking to see if lily was watching him, etc etc(and all of this is just from 1 memory lol).
Also Sirius has no qualms about disagreeing with him (unlike how he's portrayed to be james's yesman in the fandom), he asks james to stop showing off and points out that he's conceited when he wonders why lily is turned off by him. I just can't see Sirius blindly following someone even if it is james, because I think he would have learnt early on that he couldn't blindly trust the people he loved, so while he would trust james with everything, he simply wouldn't be inclined to behave that way. Even so he's way too independent for something like that. The real simp was the spoilt and pampered guy tracing the initials of his future wife lol
