He remained silent until she fell silent, brows furrowed. The moment she’d used the word druid, something had stirred inside. The only druid he knew in Beacon Hills was Deaton, and these days he seemed more into taking care of cats and dogs, not wolves and coyotes. But if it was Deaton this woman wanted, then he’d help her. He’d listened to every single detail of her story. It was rather understandable she’d managed to get a little lost. The variety of scents in this town, the preserve alone were enough to knock anyone off track that wasn’t from this town. Even he found himself caught off guard from time to time. The explanation was urgent, much like her voice was and Derek knew keeping her talking here wasn’t going to help her in the slightest. She’d been honest with him from the start, his hearing stayed tuned to her heartbeat throughout. The very least he could do was help her get where she needed to be. ” I know who you’re looking for. And I know where he is. I don’t know exactly if he can give you the help you need, but from experience, I know that he’ll try his best. He’s about a twenty minute drive from here. Considering I’ve kept you talking here, I’ll drive you there.”
Was it really that easy?
All she had to do was run into a nice wolf and tell the truth and she was going to get what she wanted?
On her first day in Wherever-This-Is, California?
Maybe she was on her way to "harmony" and being healed.
" That's very kind of you."
She wasn't about to waste time questioning it. Personal dislike of wolves be damned, she had to see that Druid. So she came right up to him to follow him to hi--. . .
" Nnh!"
The next thing she could focus on was the ground beneath her feet. And the searing, searing, searing pain in her head. All she'd done was start to take the wolf's scent int, intentionally commit it to memory. And that dark place where affliction lived, with it's snapping and gaping maw bit right down on her soft tissue and she felt like her head was going to split open.
Just from scenting him? Just for trying to remember? Since when does remembering cause so much pain?
There was no healing from this. She could never heal the wound she woke up with all those years ago. It just ached, and expanded and one day would kill her. Maybe that day was today. It was some of the worst pain she'd ever felt in her life.
" Oh God. . . I don't. . . I don't know what's wrong. . . "
