It all began 17 years ago...that first picture is us young and in love in 2008. 17 years later and married for 12 of those years and we still in love. I also think we look younger 😂. Who would have taught that our first date in time square would lead to the most beautiful life we have built together. We’ve been through everything together...growing up, life challenges, graduations, our first child, our first home, starting our careers, wins and loses, health issues, disappointments, learning to be new parents, money lessons, failed businesses, and everything in between. But through it all we have stuck together and we have always come out stronger, happier, and more united. Our unity and love is a blessing and I’m grateful for it every single day. Man who doesn’t love @barnesandnoble ! 💕📕 I could last hours in there. Love when I see my son interested in books. He picked out the @wingsoffire book and I got myself an adult coloring book. 😁 We reminisced in there about all the characters he used to love when he was little and the train set he once had. Aside from teaching kids love, morals, respect, dignity, honesty and everything else they need to learn to be a great human, we should be teaching them these basic financial fundamentals so they can succeed in life and not struggle. We have been speaking to our son about these fundamentals since he understood what money, health and stress was. We don’t just lecture him, we show him. This was celebration dinner 😋. Made a vegan lasagna using meatless meat from @gardein and cheese from @violife_foods_usa. I usually do a veggie lasagna but wanted to try something new. So a week ago I went to take an exam. I failed the first time by 2 points. I was kind of embarrassed to show my son because he’s always bringing 90s and 100s with passing grades on all his tests. But I came home and showed it to him anyways. I told him how I failed by 2 points and how mad I was I failed it. He said “what are you going to do now”. I said IM GOING TO TRY AGAIN. Registered for the test again a few mins after I failed. I got back to studying and a few days later I retook the test and passed with a good score. All I kept thinking about was showing my son so he can see that you don’t stop when you fail you keep trying. I told him if I pass I’ll bring you a donut 😂 I came home and showed him my test results. This was his reaction. Just a reminder that our kids hear and see everything we do and they will learn about life through us. Now my son will remember that if you fail it’s ok, you just try again. It’s that simple. He’s our true motivation. Everything we do is with him in mind, for his future, for his legacy. The system is broken...The younger generation is not being educated on debt, budgeting, savings, investments, financial independence, or retirement so we get stuck in life living paycheck to paycheck, working for the rest of our lives to pay bills and never live life on our terms or to do the things we were put on this earth to do. We end up staying broke for the rest of our lives and never accumulate wealth or retire early because we simply didn’t know better or were taught better. Shame on the education system for leaving the younger generation clueless about money so we can end up like this. It’s a shame I went to business school, got my BBA in business/finance, and never learned about life insurance, stocks, real estate, trading, index funds, retirement accounts, iras, debt elimination, saving money, investing, or simply how to budget money. My husband and I learned all that on our own the last 4 years through trial and error. But my 4 year degree taught me nothing about how to be financially independent and retire early so I can live on my terms and give back. Not to buy a bigger house or a nicer car but simply to live my purpose and enjoy life with my family. Watching this documentary had me angry but happy that someone is bringing awareness to this crisis because it’s not fair we “the younger generation” continue to be uneducated and end up making poor choices in life leaving us unhappy, unfulfilled, and broke, never being able to break these cycles for our children. We deserve to do better for our kids, our families, and for ourselves. My husband and I have been on this FIRE journey for almost 4 years now and we not stopping until we get to where we want to be.
