mount ararat (armenian: արարատ or մասիս [masis]) is a mountain in the armenian highlands. “ararat” comes from the greek version of the hebrew spelling אררט (“arratt” according to google translate) of the word urartu, which was a kingdom that existed in the armenian highlands in the 6th-9th centuries bc.
armenians use “ararat” and “masis” interchangeably. the smaller peak (lesser ararat) is also called “sis” (armenian: սիս).
ararat is the mythical resting place of noah’s ark, as mentioned in the book of genesis. it was the first mountain poking above the flood waters as they receded following the great flood.
ararat is regarded by both christians and armenians: it was major in pre-christian armenian mythology. it was considered the home of the gods and referred to as the holy mountain.
to represent our culture, we use this symbol widely.
but because of colonialism, genocide and brainwashing, ararat is legally a part of turkey now and most turkish people consider it theirs but it’s always been and always will be armenian.

an interesting fact about the armenian genocide is that the word ‘genocide’ itself was literally invented specifically to describe the armenian genocide and yet everyone’s a bit waffley about whether ‘genocide’ is the right term to talk about the systematic extermination of millions of people for explicit reasons of ethnic cleansing
I just turned in my last undergrad project. feels good

I can taste the end and it tastes like armenian food and a new flavor of lacroix
today I gave my final presentation for one of my classes and my professor loved it which is great. maybe optics isn’t so bad after all lol
things I still have to do:
finish my paper for the same class (easy)
finish my part of the report for a different class (also easy)
finish my design project (not easy because my lab partner is useless)
take an exam for the design class (again, bad, because I have to spend all my time on the project instead of studying to make up for this person’s slacking)
I’m about to have a degree in electrical engineering

for one of my classes I’m working on a project to automatically detect what key a song is in and I couldn’t figure out why the code wasn’t working for one of the songs. it turns out that the song is in G Lydian which our algorithm definitely cannot detect so I’m just going to pretend this didn’t happen and remove it from the test set
