Thinking about Hawks standing on top of a tall building on a really windy day… he has his wings all stretched out, spread to their fullest extent as he lets the breeze blow through his feathers. Occasionally, he does teeny tiny little flaps for the fun of it. He’s enjoying himself, and the bird part of his brain is just: 

“Yes. This… This is good. Real nice. Today is a good day~”

consider; Hawks without a tail who really wants one. he's talked about a tail-like support item with the HPSC before and they just,, refuse. every time. they are very adamant that it would 'lower his rankings'

still, Hawks lists reason after reason and constantly brings it up. he considers just getting one made behind their back but .. hesitates. he's seen threads about whether his eyes were a part of his quirk or manifactured for aesthetics. he's seen people assume his wings were all the bird traits he had. hell, he's seen people say his wings had better be all the bird traits he had. there was a reason that thread existed in the first place. there was a reason he always sidestepped questions about his eyes.

there was a reason he wore gloves.

so, he eases up a little. it was mostly joking before, but now it was joking without the cautious hope that they'd change their mind.

they weren't that important, anyway. not more than the few seconds of hesitation he knew he'd find in some citizens if he had one.

Lady Nagant showing sympathy to Hawks by not shooting him on sight and letting him speak... her saying that Hawks is too soft and it's what's holding him back... maybe even wishing he would have joined her back then when she betrayed the HPSC...

Hawks waking up next to someone, and they just roll over and look at him and smile. How did he manage to be able to find someone just like him when he imagined he was broken for so damn long? He was so happy to have someone like him who made him feel happy and for once he felt happy in a way he thought only people who were in romantic relationships had, and him, someone who wanting nothing less than romance or sex or anything like that, he was happy in that way but not that way. Just being so was enough to make him come to tears.

consider: hawks, aro-ace and completely oblivious when it comes to romance-coded gestures, accidentally fools all his friends into thinking he's into them.

he takes jeanist out on what jeanist Absolutely assumes to be a date. he's prepared to let him down easy (or, even funnier, reciprocate) but.. hawks does not make a single move. no flirting; no flirty eyes; no flirty movements. jeanist comes to the conclusion that hawks is Shy.

rumi just straight up tells him she's not into him one day. hawks, very confused, is like; haha, cool! me neither :D he is being completely genuine. rumi comes to the conclusion that he's embarrased.

he gets endeavor a boquet of roses once. endeavor stops functioning. hawks is so, so confused. (in fairness, they were yellow)

God I am working so hard to finish that fic about baby Hawks being adopted by that flower shop woman I posted once, because I really want to share with you guys stories of him being given head pets, being picked up from school and on the walk home stopping by a bakery and she lets him pick out the strawberry shortcake they're going to buy for his after-school snack, her asking what bedtime story he wants to hear and he always picks out the same Endeavor story book and she reads it even though she doesn't particularly like Endeavor as a person 😭 I'm so excited to share it with people
