melanie has one plushie she's had since she was a kid. probably a rabbit, its long ears now rough and threadbare from constant attention. after she moved out, she kept it smushed in the back of a drawer, mostly forgetting about it. georgie had a bunch of plush ghosts lying around, waiting to be packed. small things with cheap fabric but cute, regardless. melanie grabs one and starts to take it with her to work, in her jacket pocket or bag. she runs her fingers over the embroidered details as she steels herself, awl in her other hand. georgie notices the plush still in her pocket as they comes down from crying. she gets a plush bunny from the hospital gift shop. it holds a little heart that says "it's a boy!", but it's easy enough to cut off. (it's not like melanie would mind, regardless). when melanie takes it, feels its long ears, she starts crying again.

melanie and georgie's bed is now covered in plushies. all have different textures and weights, so it's easy to find any one. melanie loves them all, but she mostly holds on to the two bunnies, and one ghost.

jude perry is easily one of the characters of all time I think. middle aged pathetic fat butch who self immolates for a woman she met like only months prior. she manages to attract two weird traumatized chosen-by-their-gods femmes and fumbles both of them. she sets a forest on fire for one of them though. said femme was also a mannequin. she only makes two appearances in the podcast and in the second one she dies violently and in both she makes terrible jokes only she finds funny. she’s made of wax. she becomes a landlord in the apocalypse. what else could you want from a woman

hey so it’s really fun how you’ve assigned the only female character in this group as “the one with the braincell.” super cool that she’s always the ultra-responsible one cleaning up after her male counterparts who are allowed to be crazy and funny and have actual developed personalities. no it definitely doesn’t say anything about how you view the role of women in these stories don’t worry about it <3.

jude goes to the ruins of the museum a little after the explosion happened in order to make sure she can snag what remains of nikola’s body before she’s thrown away with the rest of the rubble. she takes her out somewhere to give her a sorta-proper burial, all the while groaning about how she’s getting too old for this whole “burying your friends & mourning them” thing and how this is too close to mike’s disappearance and how you people are trying to kill her and so on. she digs a shallow grave for nikola and tries to say some last rites or whatever but it’s mostly just an apology that nikola never got to complete her ultimate goal or live a regular (for an avatar at least) life. jude wants to tell her to rest peacefully but she knows nikola wasn’t the kind of thing to rest while alive so instead she wishes that if nikola did end up in an afterlife, that it was full of dancing and movement. she stays with the grave for a little bit and maybe has a cigarette or something before she swallows all of her feelings and leaves, unwilling to the dissect or sit with the grief of losing another person so important to her. you understand.

i've seen some people say that they don't like helen because her specific brand of spiral is too evil and i just wanna say. i love that side of helen so much. i love that she's a lying liar who lies in a condescending and manipulative way. i love that she's a genuine villain, but only ever has friendly conversations with jon and martin.

michael's brand of spiral was very overt. all about confusion and madness and fractals and shapes.

helen is a lot more subtle. a lot more "you know it's fake, but you have to play along" or "you don't know what's going on, but you feel lied to" that girl is playing MIND GAMES she's playing 4d chess with jmart's emotions and i love her for that.
