When Steven dropped the bubble, Black Star whistled loudly, getting the corrupted gem’s attention. “Hey! Over here!” The runt Diopside shouted, waving her arms in the air. “I’m tiny and easy to beat, come get me!” She called to the feral gem, now waving her weapon in the air. Growling, the corrupted gem slowly stalked its way toward Black Star, Steven better act quick!
Steven slips around behind the gem, moving sneakily to avoid distracting the gem from Black Star’s distraction. Once behind, he floats into the air, then curls up like a cannonball and forms a spiked bubble around himself. He lets himself drop on top of the corrupted gem, poofing her form.
He lands and picks up the gem. “Okay,” he says to the gem as he bubbles it, sending it up into the air, back to the temple, “time to go home.”

Sometimes you have to kind of die inside in order to rise from your own ashes and believe in yourself and love yourself to become a new person.

“Okay, great! I’m gonna count to three, on three, you drop the bubble.. okay?” Black Star proposed her plan to the hybrid child, summoning her sword/whip hybrid weapon out of her gem. Though her body was tremoring slightly, she was ready to play the role of distraction.
“Gotcha.” Steven took a breath, mentally preparing himself as Black Star counted down.
Once she hit three, he dropped the bubble and held still for a second, letting Black Star get the corrupted gem’s attention.

“I thought we were still role-playing!” Black Star replied to Steven, shielding her head with her arms. But out of a few gaps, the dark gem was able to see shades of pink. She realized Steven had activated his bubble shield ability. “Right! Uh.. h-how would you feel about.. m-me distracting her while you poof her?” The runt gem asked, while the corrupted Quartz was clawing on Steven’s bubble.
“Well-- we’ll retcon it to be a dragon when we’re done!” As much as Steven liked playing around, dealing with corrupted gems wasn’t a game. He needed to take care of it and be serious.
“Yeah, that works! Keep her attention on you, I’ll take care of the rest.”

“Ah, a fine choice of weaponry indeed!” Black Star replied loudly, though her body jolted. “Oh, r-right! I-I meant to say..” she had only said a squirrel because the gem was hoping that that was what the noise was. But now that she thought about it, it sounded.. much louder than a squirrel.
“You are correct, sir knight. It was more than likely a-” the Diopside resumed speaking, only to hear a loud roar. “Dragon!” Screeched Black Star, pulling her weapon out of her gem. Then as if on cue, a large corrupted gem leapt out of the shrubbery a few yards away from them, most likely a Quartz of some kind.
“That’s not a dragon!” Steven said, throwing a bubble around himself and Black Star. “I mean, probably not? Maybe corrupted gems were mistaken for dragons in the past--” The corrupted Quartz struck the outside of the bubble, cutting Steven off.
“Right, focus. We gotta poof her!”

“You do? What sword would that be, brave knight?” Black Star asked while remaining in character. “Uh..” the grey gem paused, hearing a loud rustle, as if it was running past them. “That? Yes.. I-I heard that, Sir Steven. Maybe it was.. just a squirrel!”
“Rose’s sword. Though, it’s kind of Connie’s sword right now?” Steven stroked his chin, trying to remember if there was a proper name for the sword. “A squirrel? That doesn’t fit very well into a knight story...”
