Ares in Mythology:
Kills the guy who tried to assault his daughter and refused to apologize for it when he got put on trial (it was ruled justifiable homicide by Athena btw).Ā
The only time heād been captured in battle was when he was protecting his mom from being captured by giants who wanted to forcibly marry her.
Found and Freed Thanatos when he was imprisoned by Sisyphus when no other Gods could
Helps found the Amazons by helping their founder escape her abusive husband and becomes their patron God.
Genuinely loves and respects Aphrodite as her own person
One of his epithets isĀ āfeasted by womenā.
Ares in Modern Media:Ā
Meatheaded sexist asshole out of an eighties teen movie.
Conclusion:Ā My boy is getting done dirtier than Hades in modern representation. Ares is one of the least problematic Gods in the pantheon (except for the murders, I will grant you) and yaāll are sleeping on him.

You'll burn and burn out, you'll get cured and come back.
ā Fyodor Dostoevsky, from The Brothers Karamazov (tr. Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky)
How to start again āØ
delete apps and social media that lowers your moodĀ
wear a new scent, throw away things you donāt need, delete contacts of people who make you feel unworthy, unfollow social media that makes you feel bad in any way
make a new playlist that makes you feel confident and happyĀ
in a journal, write down why you want to change, the traits of the person you truly want to be, the places you want to go and people that make you feel inspired
write down the things that stop you and bad habits you have, and replace those with new mindsets and habitsĀ
before you sleep,Ā make a detailed, achievable routine for the next day, that includes everything you want to do, including activities that genuinely make you happy
try new hobbies, like baking/cooking,Ā playing a musical instrument, making art,Ā learning a new skill, a sport, or a new language. you can easily get free resources onlineĀ
think about the ideal version of yourself. you can be like that, if you try your best and work hard.Ā
do not overwork yourself or set overly lofty daily goals and forget to do things like drink water. make your sleep and health your number one priority.
spend less time on your phone scrolling through social media. have a method of focusing on other things, like Pomodoro method or using the Forest app.Ā
if you canāt concentrate, commit yourself to doing it for 5 minutes.Ā once you get into the flow itās much easier to concentrate.
be patient and kind with yourself. itās hard to change overnight. youāre the only one who can help change you, so be a friend to yourself.
once you start something, promise yourself you will finish it.Ā
have new weekly routines, like going to a cafe every Wednesday afternoon or indulging in your favourite tv show every Friday night.
do not deny yourself of good things; there needs to be a balance. similarly, do not be too generous and overdo it too much.Ā
dedicate a day to clean your room and organize your things if you feel stressed out.Ā
it may feel scary to change, as you may feel like itās not the real you. but youāre still you, just the best version of yourself.
have a relaxing morning routine to look forward to, like making a nice breakfast, having a skin care routine, stretches, journalling, or thinking about nothing for a few minutes
have a mental image that makes you excited to do something. visualize yourself completing the goal and concentrate on it every morning.
however, learn not to rely on motivation because your brain will often turn off motivation, especially when you first begin something. have a routine, a specific time to do something, and do it.Ā
notice the places and people that drain your energy, and try to avoid them. find people who make you feel energized and places that calm you.
think about an enjoyable part of something. for example, when studying you can look forward to learning new things and when exercising, listening to calming music or using nice stationery. itās actually more fun than you think.Ā
even though itās hard, donāt compare yourself. youāre on your own path, and it doesnātĀ matter if people are better than you, because there will always be someone better than everyone. donāt be afraid to suck.Ā so draw badly, write bad poems, run slowly, make embarrassing mistakes and fail everything. you canāt be good at something unless youāre terribleĀ at something first. and doing anything badly is so much better than doing nothing.
donāt tell anyone about your new beginning, just start and let the results speak for themselves.
you can change and be your ideal self. but it will be hard to do that if you donāt believe in yourself. so make sure you challenge negative thoughts telling you canāt do something. tell yourself firmly that you can do it and then prove your negative thoughts wrong.
Notice how I can make a post simply pointing out that Dabi's broadcast is impactful and how heroes putting their reputation before justice isn't heroic, and people will completely miss the point and go "but dabi evil he killed people!!11!1!!!" - what does that have to do with my post?
If you're this far into the story and you still don't understand that the whole point is that it's not just people who have been assigned the label "villain" who commit crimes but that the top three heroes have all either killed someone, abused their own family, or excuse these crimes because they have been committed by a hero, therefore it's automatically a good thing and not a crime? I don't know, maybe you need to read the story again (or read something that's easier to understand).
If you're only "argument" to anything a villain stan says is that a VILLAIN has killed people then you obviously don't have an actual argument to make, you just don't want to admit that we're right. Obviously, a villain is going to commit crimes. What's not obvious is that the heroes are also committing crimes - and getting away with it for that matter.
The characters in the story are fictional and used as a device to get a point across. Dabi hasn't actually killed real-life people, he represents how (untreated) trauma can negatively impact someone. Meanwhile, the heroes represent how people in positions of power will abuse said power and get away with their crimes while also benefitting from their victims' suffering. There are far more points than this, of course, that the story is making and it's so painfully obvious that it's honestly sad how many people will go out of their way to ignore all of this just because it's not the story they want to read. It's okay if you are disappointed by the story, but being in denial isn't gonna change the facts.
Bnha has always been and will always be a story about injustice and a heavily flawed system. If you can't take the criticism the hero system is receiving and refuse to admit that something needs to change, this story is not for you.
Iām screaming because this is so fucking well said. 100% this. This is everything to me, this is what weāve been screaming, this is what the LOV has been screaming. Letās say it louder for the people in the back.
The LoV being villains is not about what they did, is about what they represent. And, just like in real life, villains are often those who don't fit in society.
The abandoned children, the scoundrels, the homeless, the mentally ill.
If tomorrow a bunch of homeless gained an army, you can bet your right arm they would be labeled as terrorists.
How you are perceived by people who donāt know you (and have made no effort to change that) is none of your business. Youāll save yourself so much trouble and heartache and disappointment when you can decide for yourself whose opinion matters and helps you grow. Learn to care about the ones that are trying to lift you up instead of the ones that are criticizing you just for the sake of it.
āIāve always loved the idea of not being what people expect me to be.ā
