Oliver handed her back reluctantly, if only because he wanted nothing more than to spend as much time as possible with Lian. “It’s fine, I mean, if there’s anywhere she can shriek and make a mess, it’s here,” he said, gesturing vaguely. The penthouse had felt like a ghost town since Oliver got back. It wasn’t the same without Dinah. “Yeah, yeah, I think he’s just down in Coast City for a couple of days to see his mom,” he said, gesturing vaguely. “Something along those lines. He’s an adult, I’m sure he’s taking care of himself.” He leaned against the doorway, his hand coming up to run over his hair so he could at least try to flatten it some more against his scalp. “If you want me to take care of her, I will, but I’m not going to stand in the doorway and fight more about the same old stuff. You either want me to do it or you don’t, so just tell me, Roy.”
Roy kept Lian close, staring at Oliver for a moment before glancing around. He had to go, he was scrapping at all the hours he could get now that he was the only one in the house with a job. “Lee,” Roy set her down on her feet, kneeling down to her level to honestly talk to her, “You need to be on your best behavior, okay? Ollie’s doing us a very nice favor and if you want to be welcomed back, you need to be very, very good.” Roy spoke gently to her. Lian nodded, giving Roy a pinky promise before turning back to Oliver. “Either Jay or I will be here to pick her up.... thanks, man.”
