you may be thinking that some of the reactions to the tumblr update are unfounded or panicky. but i meant what i said: this will fucking destroy any artist on this site.

for your reference, i tracked down one of my original posts; which had a notes section that looked like this:

holy shit. by my math, that is not even two percent of the amount of aggregate notes my writing actually has. i am not able to see any of the literal hundreds of replies, comments, or tags.

maybe this is a bit presumptuous but i consider myself to be fairly popular on this site. i still remember the first time a large blog "picked up" my work - how quickly all of a sudden i was getting seen. notes on my poetry jumped from like 10 to 300 to 3k. overnight. that was the magic of tumblr, and the incredible writing community i found here.

but now if i answer any of my fellow writers, if i say please go check this out or even if i add additional context to my own work - the artist is removed completely from their own content.

do you want to reply to an "ask game"? do you want to reply to a story prompt? do you want to just make a funny joke with your friends? well, that sucks - you might be depriving them of literally 98% of their notes.

it isn't about clout chasing. it is about giving creators control over their own materials. even a silly post deserves to be connected directly with the person that thought it up.

the tumblr feedback form is currently crashed for me, but when it's up, everyone please go (politely! calmly! like you're walking in a burning building!) tell them what you think. in the meantime: @staff @changes like... i am begging you. literally just set up a suggestion box for ideas on how to monetize tumblr, surely one of us can help you.

content aggregator blogs that just comment with three flower emojis and somehow rack up thousands more notes than OP. 16-22 year old fandom artists putting COMMENTERS DNI in their bio and COMMENT IN TAGS at the bottom of their posts. hapless i-check-tumblr-once-a-week users commenting on a reblog and getting their inboxes full of scolding. people making multiple single-posts instead of reblogging their own posts to continue a thought.

Tumblr, you're doing another disservice to creators on this platform. With these constant changes like, the broken flagging of non-nsfw posts or changing the photoset feature, it's just breaking more things that weren't broken and we're exhausted. This is not Twitter or Threads. We don't need reblog chains to have their own likes and reblogs. Do you know how HARD it is for creators to get visibility on their art? They have to tag mutuals or bigger blogs for reblogs in hope more people see it. Even then, most posts get more likes than reblogs. You're discouraging people from staying on your platform. This seems to also have broken the block feature in the process (for some). If you must keep trying to evolve the site, please re-evaluate your changes through beta opt-in users before rolling them out sitewide.

My personal headcanon for Jinx's actual name (because Powder monkeys are an actual animal hence all the monkey Jinx draws ,it's like naming your kid Chimp)

Felicia's supposed to be bad with names so it makes sense that she'd pick another flower

Rose narratively fits Jinx's personality like it you grab a rose too roughly you're gonna get poked plus out of universe you have the roses are red violets are blue & since violet ended up having reddish pink hair, Jinx gets Rose with blue hair

The other name is Posey again we're back with the nursey rhymes but this one is associated with death like crows are another thing Jinx is compared too & fits the flower naming scheme

😭 I'm so relieved, the predictions were so grim last month when Macron called the election. The left only had 5 days to form an alliance and the far-right was basically celebrating their majority of seats in advance. The left being 1st and the far-right 3rd seemed like the least likely scenario and yet
