Pavement Project

Dutch artist Ingrid Schreyers, in collaboration with the local government in Schaerbeek, Belgium, designs and creates custom artistic mosaics for installation throughout the city.

Although there aren’t strict requirements as to what can be on the mosaic, many residents are choosing to have portraits of their cats and dogs realized, as well as various nature and urban scenes.

Mesmerizing paintings by New York-based artist Lisa McCleary who explains her work “addresses haptic sensations and the representation and embodiment of touch. I create a space in which self-pleasure, abjection and the digital and real body are in play. I am interested in the pleasure of flesh and the way that that translates into our desire for our communication devices, and our tactile relationship to industrial materials.”

Unzipped by Alex Chinneck

British sculptor Alex Chinneck has ‘Unzipped’ the façade of a building in Milan as part of the city’s Design Week festivities. To create the dramatic effect, Chinneck created a totally new elevation in the style of traditional Milanese architecture, which appears to open up to reveal the building’s interior. the interior spaces, on the other hand, are radically transformed through unexpected ‘openings’ in the cement pavement and stone walls.
