Les Chasseuresses (or The Huntresses) is based on the Greek myth of Artemis, Zeus’s daughter who asked her father to permit her eternal chastity. Artemis is portrayed as a maiden huntress, surrounded by her hounds and maiden nymphs who accompany and protect her.
