BEST WITCHY BOOKS FOR THE BEGINNER WITCH

Plenty of you have asked me about books on how to start with wicca

Buckland’s Complete Book Of Witchcraft - This book is a most have in every Wiccan’s (If you are) collection because of how informative it is. I highly recommend this book to really every witch who hasn’t read it yet.

The Modern Guide to Witchcraft: Your Complete Guide to Witches, Covens, and Spells - This book is a nice add to a baby witches collection, for how simple of a read it is. Not to mention how aesthetically pleasing it is.

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner - This book is also a very nice read, it has a perfect amount of information where you wont get information overload too quickly. Its unbiased and offers a great first start to starting the craft.

Wicca: by Harmony Nice - If you are a complete newbie to Wicca or the craft, then this is the book for you. This book is easy to swallow, and offers easy to understand information for newbies without being too difficult to process. 

Of Witchcraft and whimsy - I think this is the book for newbies who want to seek the more modern practices of witchcraft. This is a book that focuses more on the craft than Wicca itself. It is also complete with plenty of unique and fun spells perfect for beginner level.

Pastel Spells - A perfect book for newbies looking to try out spells of all types at a beginner level.

The Green Witch - Perfect for a beginning green witch, this book is complete with all the basics of Green magick complete with the correspondences of herbs and food, recipes, and basic practices and morals of a green witch.

Criticizing religious institutions, proselytizing, extremism, or horrible behaviors/beliefs done in the name of a religion? YES! Totally. That should be criticized.

Unpromptedly popping up on random posts by religious folks to say anything along the lines of "god isn't real", "the pagan gods are fake", "there is only one true religion", "[any religious group] are stupid/dangerous/barbaric" -- NO.

It's rude. It's unnecessary. And sometimes, especially in the case of minorities or oppressed groups, it's outright hateful. Theres nothing helpful, funny, or cool about randomly insulting one of the most personal aspects of a persons life. Unless it's invited or warranted, stfu.

Don't even get me started on those witchcraft "starter packs"

I began my practice with a single candle—just one. A white, three-wick Bath & Body Works candle I already owned. I learned the phases of the moon, traced sigils with quiet devotion, and stirred intention into my morning coffee. I printed my first tarot deck on plain paper.

Even now, I don’t have much. Another tarot deck, a handful of colored candles, but my magic still lives in my spice rack. I steep my water in the light of the moon and sun, letting nature do the work.

A cauldron is wonderful, but so is a simple pot. A tiny, ornate bottle of sage is lovely, but so is the sage tucked in your kitchen cabinet.

You already have everything you need for the craft. Even if all you have is yourself.

First try poetry

I have had a horrible few months- closer to a year now. And because of everything that has been happening in my life, my mental health has struggled and I haven't been able to bring myself to write, and it has been killing me. I think I've written two poems in all since June.

So, I am thinking of starting a project for myself to try and spark myself into writing more

"first try poetry" is most of my writing- I just write something. Usually when I post, it's a poem that i've been sitting on or working on for a while. I've been thinking that maybe I haven't been writing because I know that it wont be good, and maybe that has been further dulling my creative spark.

So, I am challenging myself to just write a poem, and post it here on the wonderful app of Tumblr once i'm done, whether it is wonderful, good, fine, bad, or atrocious.

I will put "first try poetry" in the title or hashtags of these posts, and I encourage others to try it too.

I hope to become a better writer, as well as write more often.

Let me know your thoughts, or if you have similar ideas!

I hope this post or idea can help others too.

If I stick with this, I will update on how it has affected me in a month or two.
