It was time to let our girls enjoy this moment and not bother them… You took them on a musical journey of soul, funk, an overall artistic romance… The incredible dismount of your incredible song. Black men who hate Womanism, do so because they are weak. They can’t fathom the idea of a Black woman looking out for herself first bc those kind of men are used to using Black women as a stepping stone. In their eyes, our only obligation is to stand behind and push them to be great, rather than stand next to them and exchange mutual support. In their eyes, we are to do nothing aside from raise children and uplift our men alone. Black men who hate Womanism are frustrated bc each day, more Black girls are realizing that their existence doesn’t have to revolve around a man to be legitimate. Black women are realizing that they can own their sexuality (or lack of) without shame. They hate that we might actually love ourselves before we love them. They’re scared that we might prioritize ourselves over them bc that’s what they do to us. Those men are pitiful.
