Beware Global Warming is contributing to a longer Ragweed allergen season! The leaves are astringent and can be crushed and applied to cuts or stings to help heal the skin.

Chicory has bright blue flowers. The raw or boiled leaves are cultivated for salad and the roots can be baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute.

Borage is a delightful bright blue star shaped flower. Strong annual, harvests within 6 weeks from seed. Can be grown indoors or outdoors. Prefers a sunny spot in sandy soil. Space plants 2 feet apart. Keep watered regularly but do not over-water. Self-seeds readily. Borage is a good companion plant. Leaves have a cucumber flavor and can be used in salads or soups. Leaves must be used fresh and cannot be stored. Both the leaves and flowers are thought to stimulate the mind and mood. Bees love borage flowers!
Arnica Montana also known as Leopard's Bane, Wolf's Bane, or Mountain Tobacco. Found in Europe, Canada, and US mountain regions. Grows up to 2 feet in height, tiny hairs grow along stem, and leaves stay low to the ground. The medicinal power is found in the taproot and the daisy-like yellow flowers that bloom in July.
