People either vibe with The Catcher in the Rye or they donât, and Iâm probs not going to discuss my true feelings or mental health with you if you donât
Branded by Love
They say Icarus flew too close to the sun,
But how can you blame someone blinded by light,
Especially when things seemed so sweet and fun,
Or when it just felt right?
To be draped in your light was an honor,
So, why did it burn my love?âšSo painful I had believed I was a goner,
The pain I had hoped to get rid of,
Yet, to do so would have meant smothering the flame,
So I was content for the time being to watch my skin blister,
For that I only have myself to blame,
Meaning I let the feelings inside become bitter.

baby every me is me, we are the mask and the wearer
vampirecore â a sweet, silken kiss like a last grasp on life, the dark lips of your lover, the petals of a black orchid, the blood pulsing in your veins
Isolation
Always seemed daunting and haunting,
Like eery creak of floorboards when no one is there,
Or maybe the soft sheets consoling a heart filled with wanting,
Maybe isolation isnât as lonely as we were awareâŠ
Maybe isolation is freedom,
Even more so healing and refreshing,
Not even out of an angry âI donât need âemâ,
Rather an epiphany in a disguised blessing.
Thatâs how I thought people felt without me,
And maybe it still is, no, that is how it still is.
But the freedom in knowing everyone else is free,
Yes, that freedom the eery creek says.
That freedom the soft sheets embrace!
That healthy freedom Iâve never had to face!
Me realising Iâm now an adult with actual responsibilities
i just wanna feel something â€ïž no, not that â€ïž

Steps to Fighting Fairly with your Partner
Choose your battles. You donât need to address every single little problem. Some things can just be minor annoyances that you let go. Dealing with conflict takes energy and might be taxing on you, so donât waste that energy over little things that donât matter.Â
Stick to the subject. Donât bring up other random things or complaints about other things. Focus on one problem at a time and be thoughtful about it. make sure you both know whatâs being discussed.Â
Donât limit potential. Past behavior does not inherently define future behaviors. donât label your partner with things such as âyou wonâtâ or âyou canât.â The point of conflict resolution is to make a change, so itâll only make things worse if you believe nothing will when you bring it up.Â
Donât use the silent treatment. Ignoring someone will not make things better. All it will do is frustrate your partner and it is a manipulation tactic. This behavior can even be considered abusive in some cases. Itâs a pointless punishment and will achieve nothing (except making your partner feel less safe in the relationship).Â
Attack the problem, not the person. Focus on âI feelâ, âI thinkâ, âI seeâ statements. Donât call names, donât label, donât attack your partner. Again, thatâs just going to make things worse and solve nothing. And of course, donât yell.
Focus on objective fact. Donât say âyou neverâ and donât say âyou always.â Donât exaggerate things or assume you know everything from your partnerâs perspective. Give specific, concrete examples of behavior. Â
Offer solutions along with criticisms. Point your partner in the direction you want them to go rather than just assuming they can read your mind and will do what you need without you telling them. Donât just tell them what theyâve done wrong: express your expectations.Â
Accept that you could be wrong. You cannot possibly know everything and itâs possible that your partner might not be in the wrong. Your perceptions do not inherently reflect reality. Be okay with apologizing and owning up to your own mistakes.Â
When the fight is over, let it be over. you donât need to have the last word. All that matters is that the issue is resolved. If the issue is not resolved after youâve let things rest for a while, assert your needs later on.
someone: *mentions anything about the future*
me, immediately:
Iâm just gonna make this a separate post because people who claim holden caulfield is a bad or pretentious guy clearly have not read the book
1. first of all, his dream is to be The Catcher In The Rye which really just means he wants to catch kids who are falling off cliffs. weird yes, for him to think like that, but remember that his younger brother died and now all he wants is to save other small children.
2. heâs a pretty good brother to phoebe. obviously during the books heâs not the best, but his actions are pretty understandable. calling his baby sister in the middle of the night because he needs someone to talk to and canât face his parents, but heâs super supportive and loving of his sister, whom he deems one of the only good dancers and he is a person that she revered. bad brothers donât get idolized the way phoebe idolizes Holden
3. Holden does nice things all the time without prompting or acknowledging that he is doing something nice. He doesnât kick out the annoying guy that rooms in the adjoining suite (ackley), despite the fact that this dude is super rude and is totally mean to Holden. Also Holden visits his sick teacher and gives a good sum of his money to some passing nuns because he felt like he had to help them??? nihilistic assholes donât do kind things like that
4. he was a really good and respectful friend to Jane, the one girl he really likes, and he never pushed her further than she was comfortable going??? and he was really aware of that other girlâs reaction when he took her to the movies?? like Holden treated women with respect. and this is in the goddamn forties, so itâs especially notable
5. Holden has some really serious emotional trauma that heâs dealing with. his little brother ally, whom Holden said was his favorite person and whose baseball glove he wrote about, died too young. his parents arenât helping Holden process that grief; they just keep shipping him off to boarding school despite his obvious cries for attention
6. The lack of emotional support is causing Holden to withdraw and become increasingly depressed. he talks about wanting to just disappear and dialing out of school and not caring about his futureâŠ. thatâs not being an asshole, thatâs struggling with the death of a loved one and not being able to get the right resources to let him heal until he starts talking to a psychiatrist at the end of the book
7. Holden is super insecure and super upfront about that insecurity. pretentious assholes have huge egos; Holden doesnât have an ego and rolls over when his schoolmates attack or ridicule him. Heâs dependent on the approval of others (deerstalker hat becomes a lot less of a fun purchase once itâs made fun of) and obviously does not think that much of himself
so yeah he does some annoying things, like forgetting the fencing gear on the subway and then struggling to take responsibility for it, but the reality is it comes from a place of severe emotional issues and the lack of a healthy supportive environment rather than him just being a regular old asshole
