Steve Yarosh is our #ArtistoftheWeek. He creates images using a technique he calls “Sculpted Inlay.” Each individual shape is cut from heavy linen and inlayed into textured acrylic gel. At August’s First Thursday Art Walk Artistic Portland - Aug 3, 2017 will feature the work of members from the Pacific Northwest Sculptors. On display are the works of sculptors Carole Murphy, Dan Good, George Heath, Chayo Wilson and Mo Ross. Visitors can also meet other members from Artistic Portland and view their latest creations plus express their own creativity by painting a ceramic bisque bowl for the Sisters Of The Road charity between 2-6 pm. All supplies will be provided by the art co-op. The August theme is the coming Total Eclipse and some members took that as inspiration from which to create an original piece of art. Our featured #ArtistOfTheWeek is Michael Barley Lampwork Beads / Fused Glass Art. Michael was a potter for 15 years. He still frequents pottery sites and occasionally the pottery influence finds its way into his work,. but glass has always fascinated him and about 23 years ago he spent a few hours with Sage in Bellingham making his first glass beads. You could say he was hooked.
