With Qsmp2 starting there might be new people who liked Philza and Missa's dynamic so let me tell you how we do things here

First of all, Tumblr is a bit different from Twitter in how their relationship are handled: any reading of them is valid! Romantic, platonic, queer platonic - any!

But there's a strict distinction between tags:

Deathduo - platonic/queer platonic view, also used as a neutral tag for duo in general and CCs

Pissa (we don't use Phissa over here) - ROMANTIC ONLY, and it's solely about cubitos! We don't ship CCs in this house!

It's important not to cross tag if it's something explicitly romantic since there's people who's uncomfortable with it! But you can cross tag if it's neutral and doesn't include CCs

Correct me if I’m wrong, but El was originally supposed to die at the end of season 1, yes? So how would El and Mike be the plan from the start? How does any of that make sense?

Just 30 seconds of critical thinking should explain why this is queerbaiting. They viewed us as “noise” while knowing our noisiness helped keep the party going. They objectively wrote Byler into the story with enough ambiguity to keep people hooked while ultimately going NOWHERE with it. They made their “main straight ship” (which we all know is really Lumax, but in their minds it was somehow Mileven all along) confusing on purpose because without that confusion, the bait wouldn't have worked. They actively gave Robin dialogue in Volume 1 meant ONLY for the purpose of baiting Bylers and Will fans because literally no one else would care about the implications. They filled the supplemental radio show with eerily on-the-nose hints for things that never came. And then they didn't even allow Will to kiss or properly date anyone even though he was established as the most romantic character. They made the Byler storyline a HEAVY part of promotion in S4 (the painting, hello?). Queerbaiting is ultimately a marketing term first and foremost, and people can try to deny it all they want and say Byler was never promised, hinted at, or promoted, but we all know that’s a lie. It was.

And in S5, their closing episode for Volume 1 was heavily Byler-centric. They wrote only one ambiguous Mileven scene in Volume 1 and then made it so that he didn’t even seem to care where she was. And they didn't start emphasizing romantic Mileven this season until the finale (outside of the weird wet suit flirtation scene, which was in Volume 2… so at earliest, they didn’t start emphasizing it this season until two episodes before the finale, while still keeping things vague enough). They weren't even gonna give Byler any resolution at all until Noah asked them to. They actively made their own writing nonsensical just for the purpose of baiting with zero payoff, and they patted themselves on the back for being progressive heroes for giving Will a deeply regressive coming out scene, basically throwing him to the wolves like Elon, not stepping in to defend him at all (but they could shut down random rumors and roast the Reddit for caring about Ted’s chicken or whatever?), and then basically giving him nothing to do in the finale of a show that was supposedly “about Will.”

They cruelly made their traumatized gay character fall in love with their self-insert, made their self-insert go from having intimate conversations with their gay character to actively shutting him out to make out with his superpowered girlfriend and say heinous things like, “It’s not my fault you don't like girls” to getting close to him again and making heart eyes at the end of S3 to weirdly icing him out at the start of S4 with no real explanation (why TF did he seem jealous of the painting?????) to having intimate convos with him again in scenes that served no other purpose than building out this storyline further to confessing his love for El using the words and love of the gay character as fuel and essentially saying his life started on the day the gay character disappeared to promising to take out Vecna together again while not talking to El to whatever the hell happened in S5. Basically, they objectively purposely wrote their self-insert character to give mixed signals and send the gay character on a cruel, psychological emotional roller coaster, a gay character they had no problem calling “fag” and torturing with CSA imagery but were really hesitant to even admit was gay, despite knowing since the pitch of the show, clearly because they wanted to have their cake and eat it too. They wanted both us and the mainstream fans. And then they realized people wanted closure, but they didn’t want to write a formal rejection scene because that would be awkward and require actual depth and nuance. It would also take away from their cool explosions! So they had Will abruptly self-reject himself, and they framed it as empowering even though the context was traumatizing with no payoff.

And then finally, in the last week of the show, they started to hint at how they really felt about us while still refusing to explicitly say Byler wasn’t happening and was “never the plan” (which I’m very skeptical of) until after their aggressively mediocre finale was out.

it scares me how mileven fans are ready to justify all of mike's actions with just one "he has problems expressing emotions." when he told will in season 4 what a loser he was, he didn't have problems expressing emotions. and when will was acting distant in california at the beginning, he noticed it, but didn't notice that his girlfriend wasn't doing well there. why then is he able to say "i love you" to his mom? and don't say "well, he doesn't love his mom romantically"? it's such an important word for jane, and you justify it by saying that he expresses love with actions. well, yes, i forgot. for fans of this ship, every problem is solved by "well, he kissed her." mike does have problems expressing feelings, indeed, but how can you continue to ship mileven if mike doesn't love her the way she wants? i don't understand this. i don't understand it at all. "mike doesn't notice other people's love" well, yes, he doesn't. congratulations. but then again, he cares so much about jane that their relationship just deteriorates throughout season 4, until mike tells her "i love you" under will's motivation. mike wheeler is gay, and you won't convince me otherwise. kissing and hugging women isn't that hard, of course, but it's harder to have a real dialogue with her, and not promise fabulous waterfalls without ever asking "what do you want?" mike is a victim of bad writing by the writers, and i'm sick of how people point-blank don't see it and say he's just problematic.

if you think this is just how mike acts as a teenager, then no fucking way. characters don't just change, and normal growing up has nothing to do with it. mike matured, and then it's the writers' fault that they removed his character, assigned him to jane, and told him to "support her," and that's pretty much all mike does. and it's not out of great love for jane, i can tell. he likes food, about having a girlfriend to suffer through. apparently, that's what the writers wanted to say, because those are the thoughts that were in my head after the finale. the real mike wheeler is a good friend, but even as a friend, he's already weak for jane, because his support consists of the fairy tales he tells jane. does he give her hope? i don't know, we didn't find out. because jane behaved inconsistently, sometimes agreeing and hoping, sometimes saying that mike is not one of her company. so i don't know. they just ruined their relationship. and i don't understand how people don't see that, and how they're content with "well, they kissed."

The first five minutes of the season end with Will basically getting SA'd by Vecna. They showed that in graphic detail. People talked about how traumatic and disturbing it was.

They showed that.

They promoted the season with it. With SA of a child.

And that child grew up and never got to kiss a boy on the show. Not even necessarily the boy he's in love with, just a boy in general. They didn't even give him a blatant epilogue bf, just an implied one in Mike's imagination.

What the ACTUAL fuck!?

Yup………… they literally made Will Byers be sexually abused on screen, dragged that scene out and forced us to watch it while he struggled to breathe and was sobbing. It was fucking disgusting, and it sent me into a panic attack and trigger the fucking shit out of me as a CSA survivor.

They didn’t even put a TW for that. It was sick. Straight up torture porn. This entire show was a queer humiliation ritual and torture porn. All of it.

And then if that wasn’t enough, along with what you mentioned, they then made Will sympathize with Vecna/Henry. Not only sympathize with, but say they were the SAME! The same?!

Will Byers said his sexual abuser was the same as him? A man who SAed him at 12 and who also did the same to a dozen other children? Oh ok, so now we’re just saying gay men are sexual predators toward kids! Is that it? Because that feels like what they’re saying! It’s disgusting, as I said.

I think more than anything concerning his character, the way they treated Will Byers being a CSA victim was abhorrent.

No, I don’t feel empowered as a csa survivor and a gay man. No, I don’t feel properly represented and I don’t feel loved at all by this show or these writers. I feel villainized and betrayed, gaslit and manipulated and lied to for a decade. That’s how I feel. It isn’t powerful. It isn’t positive. It’s sick.

Will Byers you deserved better. Had you been my character none of this would have ever been so.
