The practice I develop is rooted in a slow, attentive focus on fragile forms, repeated gestures, and buried memories. Of Franco-Japanese heritage, I have developed between two cultures whose relationships to the body, time, nature, and the collective differ profoundly. This dual heritage forms a foundation for my work and permeates its forms and concerns. Gesture occupies a central place. It is neither expressive nor spectacular, but repeated, sometimes to the point of exhaustion. Repetition is never decorative: it is a method, a discipline, a way of understanding through doing. The work does not seek resolution but rather a state of perpetual exploration. This importance of gesture has been affirmed in my performance practice, where the body becomes both tool and surface, as well as in my murals, which extend this work to the scale of architecture. Coming of age in the 1920s, Pressoir embraced the modern art scene in America and abroad. She spent summers with the Provincetown art colony and moved through the studios, galleries, and nightclubs of jazz-age New York. She punctuated her formal education with an unprecedented 18,000 km bicycle trip across Europe in 1927, where she developed her personal style.

María Carlota "Lotte" Schultz (1925- January 22, 2016) was a Paraguayan artist. Schulz used several different media in her work, including ceramics, drawing, painting and printmaking.
