This isnt the original Kris - Deltarune Theory(in progress)
Warning: there are spoliers for chapters 3&4
Quick intro - I was thinking what if the body of Kris we control in Deltarune isn't actually the original kris? I'm not saying that it isn't Kris, just that theres something weird going on behind it. Kris very clearly has their own personality that is shown through the Kris we control, but I feel like theres something more to it.
I'm not usually one to create theories and I feel like there could be more to this/better explanations, but I can't stop thinking about it so thought it would be interesting to share!
Theres not really any concrete evidence for this, just thoughts I had!
So the theory/ramble is under the cut:
First i'm going to just lay out what made me think of the theory in the first place:

Why is there another body of kris in Dess's closet?
Some people have said that this is a bug, but I counter that bugs like this would have already been hotpatched out. Example, Noelle's Weird Route Animation being misinterpreted so it was quickly taken out then reworked. I've seen others point this screenshot out before, I feel like if it truly isn't meant to be there then it will be taken out. Until it is taken out however, I will count it towards this. I feel like this was intentionally put here.
After the closet door is opened, the body disappears, which could be counted towards the "its just a bug" BUT theres also a weirdly filled corner of hearts in the closet?
When rewatching this scene, this is one of the first frames of the closet. Kris had time to put the guitar on the other side of the closet. I feel like within the timeframe of susie & noelle talking, Kris definitely had time to shove the other body under the suspicious pile of heart pillows?
Another component to the theory:
The prophecy in chapter 4. "With human soul and parts!" the "parts" part seem really weird to me lol. What does it mean by parts? I mean the cage is obvious- Kris is the cage to the player. But also Kris is caged by the player. It fits two ways, with how both limit each other.
And one all the way back from chapter 1:
Before creating a save file of your own, Kris's appears. To me it feels like Kris has interacted with the dark world in the past because of this. Or it could just mean that you've officially taken over Kris's life. but to me it feels like Kris went to the Dark world- or at the very least saved. But this is a weak point to make since it does show 0 for the time, and this could just be the implication that the Player takes over Kris's file.
So the general theory I thought of this is that:
The Kris we play is not the original body of Kris, maybe the "parts" implying a copy of Kris, maybe someone made another Kris, or maybe its universe shenanigans who knows! I'm keeping this vague because I genuinely do not have a clue but I feel like there's SOMETHING there ?
My thoughts on it are:
When Dess went missing, Kris was there with her. I think they could have possibly went into a dark world together. Dess went missing and Kris came back, but maybe something happened to Kris where it wasn't actually themselves that came back.
Or maybe that didn't happen and it was years later when Kris began working with Carol that the whole "more then one body" thing happened, maybe the Soul's introduction caused that? I'm not sure! But I do think there is more then one body of Kris. Maybe Gaster or Carol or someone experimented with Souls and accidently killed Kris and went oh shit cant have that happen so they stole another universe's Kris and so now theres multiple kris bodies in our world. For what purpose? who knows! I sure dont, I'm just thinking of possibilities that could be fun
Now I am absolutely not saying that Kris doesn't have their own feelings and wants, they do. If it is revealed that their current body is a robot or whatever please do not let the interpretation be "emotionless kris" because they are not that. It is shown again and again that they have their own wants separate from the player, even going against the player when the player tries to make them say something they don't agree with (the hand biting scene made me feel So Bad).
Another thing, is the soul Kris's soul? or not? Is the soul itself the invader? Or were we, the player, put into Kris's Soul? because I feel like that would add a lot of things to this
but im tired so this is all I have to say for now.
I'm not sure if I completely believe this, but its fun to think about! Plus theres gotta be something with the other body of Kris in Dess's closet. There has to be
I really hope we get answers to that extra body of Kris
i think toby fox should add berdly calling kris “m’theydy” in to stop people from misgendering kris and also it’d be incredibly funny please mr toby fox it’d be so funny
