VICTORY OR DEATH is my latest commissioned illustration depicting the assault on the north wall during the Battle of the Alamo and the final moments of Commander William Barret Travis. This was a real labor of love. It started with a simple rough drawing in my sketch book several years ago to what you see now. In my next post, I will share how this piece was created and who all was involved in helping me get this done. I will be making a print run of VICTORY OR DEATH. Prints will measure 18 x 24 inches. I am asking for $50 + $10 shipping and handling, pre-order. I accept paypal and check. Message me now if you are interested! On this Juneteenth, I am thinking of Joe, the slave of William Barret Travis and the sole male survivor of the Alamo garrison. Sold to Travis in 1834, Joe would go on to become a member of the Alamo garrison during the Texas Revolution as Travis took command of the fortifications in late February of 1836. After Travis's death during the Battle of the Alamo and being spared of the carnage, Joe would travel to Washington on The Brazos where his experiences, including Travis's final moments, were described in detail. Joe remained in Washington on The Brazos as he was still deemed property under Travis's estate, working for John Rice Jones. Though on April 27th, 1837, Joe escaped and according to Travis family history, traveled to Alabama to tell Travis's kin of his fate at the Alamo. It is believed that Joe remained in southern Alabama for the rest of his life; buried in an unmarked grave near Brewton. (Pages 82 thru 85 of Todd Hansen's The Alamo Reader) Joe is depicted prominently in my upcoming commissioned - illustration of the attack on the north wall during the Battle of the Alamo. According to John Rice Jone's advertisement in search of Joe that ran from May to August of 1837 in the Telegraph and Texas Register, Joe was "about twenty-five years of age, five feet teen or eleven inches high, very black and good countenance.." #joe #thealamo #juneteenth #slavery #americanhistory #texashistory #history #sanantonio #texas #artist #illustrator https://www.instagram.com/p/By5jTEOHree/?igshid=2u1tw01e0iuy
As with my last post, following the cancellation of Countdown City Comic Con, I've decide to release the artwork I created to debut at the event later this month. Batman in his classic blue and gray is pure nostalgia for me and has been a concept I've enjoyed exploring with Batman recently. My interpretation was heavily inspired by the amazing artwork of Brian Stelfreeze Fan Page with the sharp, gestural ink work and vibrant colors. My creation here was done in pencil, ink, and colored in Photoshop. This piece is dedicated to my little brother Joshua Dillon who is convinced that I'll do something for DC Comics someday. While it would be a dream come true, I've greatly appreciated your enthusiasm and encouragement. If you'd be interested in a print, comment down below and please like and follow! Every bit helps me tremendously. Thank you! #batman #thebatman #dccomics #thedarkknight #comicbook #superhero #gotham #dccomics #artist #artwork #illustrator #illustration https://www.instagram.com/p/By1PWrond5d/?igshid=1g0hij1vizdlo
Since Countdown City Comic Con has unfortunately been cancelled, I've decided to release the artwork I created to debut at the event later this month. Here is my version of The Joker, Batman's arch-nemesis. I was definitely aiming for a creepy vibe with the character. This was done entirely in Photoshop and inspired by the incredible artwork of Dave Wilkins. If you'd be interested in a print, comment down below. And please like and follow! Every bit helps. Throwback to when I created this pen and ink piece celebrating @halloweenmovie before the film's release October 2018. Little did I know, this scene would literally play out before me. Happy Hump Day! Here is your final teaser of the north wall commission in progress. Robert Pattinson was officially announced today as having been casted in the lead role of Batman for Matt Reeves upcoming film, THE BATMAN. As much as I hate Twilight, Pattinson has proven himself to be one hell of an actor and as a lifelong Bat-fan, I cannot wait to see what he brings to the cowl! One of the rumored villains is The Penguin. So, out of love for both characters, and excitement for the new film, I whipped this illustration up! THE BATMAN measures 13 x 19. Prints will be available at Countdown City Comic Con! Both figures were drawn in Photoshop, while the background is a heavily altered photo of Downtown San Antonio that I took on my phone during a photoshoot in January 2018 for the creation of this piece. My good friend David Coplan-Castillo of Blackfyre Cosplay is the best damn Batman cosplayer I know and kindly posed for this piece. I may or may not have filled in for The Penguin. ;) Batman's blue suit brings me nothing but nostalgia. And I love the gangster, gun smuggling version of Penguin. So this was a labor of love and brought back fond memories of playing with my Batman action figures when I was a wee-Wade. 🤣 Please comment, like, and follow! And stay tuned for more artwork soon! New artwork, logo and updates! I am busy creating several commissioned artworks. Pictured is the pencil work, so far, for an illustration of the attack on the north wall during the Battle of the Alamo. This is my largest battle scene yet. The pencil and ink measures 11 x 17 while the final image will measure 18 x 24 inches, digitally colored. After that, I will continue to create illustrations pertaining to the Texas Revolution: images to accompany a poem for a client and friend, as well as another commission of my interpretation of Santa Anna’s surrender after the Battle of San Jacinto (thus the purpose of my visit to the battlefield a while back). From there, more work to carry me into next month. On June 29th & 30th, I will be at Countdown City Comic Con showcasing my superhero artwork! Prints and other merchandise will be for sale. During the week leading up to the event, I will be releasing new illustrations that will be available there. If you’re in San Antonio that weekend, I highly encourage that you attend! Lots of fantastic cosplayers and local talent will be there! I am also working to update my Patreon page. For those unaware, Patreon is a monthly subscription service that connects you directly to a creator and gives you access to exclusive content, such as new artwork and prints. By subscribing to a specific tier, you unlock those benefits for your monthly patronage. Be it $1, $5, $10 a month, you’re supporting me and my artistic endeavors! http://www.patreon.com/wadedillon Should you not care to go that route but still wish to support me, you may commission me or inquire about original artwork or prints available. Of course, every comment, like, and share of my posts and images go a long way as well and is greatly appreciated! Stay tuned! https://www.instagram.com/p/ByGVD6lntMb/?igshid=1j368wmwltumr

Watched A.I, Artificial Intelligence this evening with my wife and father. It has been atleast a decade since I have seen it. I saw it upon release back in 2001, a few years after my mother passed. And a wave of emotions hit again tonight. Kubrick, Spielberg, and co. created one hell of a film. Fantastic and hauntingly beautiful. Stan Winston and co. did an amazing job creating Teddy, too. More points of articulation than the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park! @hjosment You knocked it out of the park, man. My wife and I loved your role in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile! #artificialintelligence #haleyjoelosment #teddy #jackangel #stanwinston #stevenspielberg #stanleykubrick #judelaw #FrancesO'Connor #sciencefiction #pinochio https://www.instagram.com/p/BxbcayXFNLW/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1a33shk6agv97
