Text (feel free to copy and paste!)...
There are many recycling bins for both paper and plastic across campus. We even have bins located in the trash room on each floor, as well as on the ground floor! All beverage containers, papers, cardboard boxes, tissue paper, paper bags, etc. should always be recycled!
Also, consider reusing some of your products instead of buying new ones! Try reusing school supplies instead of buying new ones, or donate ones you donât need anymore instead of throwing them away!
Make Use of Plastic Bags!
Save yourself some money and stop buying trash bags...reuse plastic shopping bags to line your trash cans! Also, invest in some canvas shopping bags to help cut down on the waste that comes from bags.
Unplug Electronics When Youâre Not Using Them!
Even if your electronics are off, be sure to unplug things like chargers, curling irons, and speakers to save energy!
Do all of your friends go to the same place at the same time but take separate cars? Form a carpool with your friends to reduce your carbon footprint!
Cut down on your paper use by using digital calendars, planners, notes, magazines, newspapers, and books!
BSUâs WEPA Printers have the option to print double-sided, so if youâre printing something you wonât be passing in or your professor wonât mind, select this option!
Invest in a few small towels and designate them for drying your hands or dishes after wash!
Drink Water From the Bubbler!
BSU has water refill stations across campus (including one in Weygand Hall), so get a refillable water bottle to reuse instead of wasting plastic water bottles! This will save you money, too!
Never throw trash or recycling on the ground outside unless it is biodegradable (such as fruits and veggies)! Wrapper, bottles, etc. should be disposed of properly!
Thrift stores, used book stores, and online marketplaces have plenty of used clothes, books, and other items available for purchase!
Reduce your water use by taking shorter showers! Set a timer for yourself or create a playlist set to a certain length to help you keep track of your shower length.
Note: I suggest tailoring this to your own campus! For example, I mention my schoolâs printing system here. Customize it to fit your residence life!
