This is only the prologue so there is more to come, but I’m sooo happy with this. Not every part will be as detailed as this (I hope, my perfectionism is kinda insane, I never intended to do so much with this first part), and I can’t wait to share each part of this story!!

Wanted to update y’all on a fun thing I’m working on since I’ve been a lil quiet lately :) but I’m officially working on a comic for my leosagi au! Not gonna promise a fully fledged out story (meaning one going from start to finish) but there will definitely be a storyline lol.

Anywho. I’m working on the prologue and finally got everything sketched out. Figured I’d show you some funny wips and ACTUAL wips.

The gem in the clam necklace isn’t a pearl it’s a moonstone.

The necklace with the rabbit and moon is surrounded by willow branches (I’m so original y’all)

And Usagi’s necklace has a ‘shark’ tooth and other character related beads on it ;3

Lmao! Pirate!Usagi with those weak ass noodle arms.

HELP ME. This is so funny bc I had to scrap some dialogue to have it all fit in that doodle but originally it was:

“Did you set fire to their camp?”

“Yea, well—THEY PISSED ME OFF!”

“Aaaaaaand now we’ve lost our cover. Are you sure my dads sent you? Or did you just get scammed?”

“HEY! Ya know, for someone who’s just been heroically rescued, stranger I definitely don’t know, you seem pretty ungrateful.”

Fun fact for y’all: I am insane and can never do anything halfway. If I draw art of an au it’s because I daydreamed a story and then could not stop thinking about it.

BUT IM REALLY SURPRISED AND THRILLED AT THE RESPONSE TO THIS AU. TY GUYS SO, SO MUCH <3!! I was NOT expecting so many ppl to enjoy my silly brain rot, so it’s been extremely joy inducing to see the responses.

I’m currently cleaning up some doodles and properly designing certain outfits/characters so it’s easier for me, but take this silly doodle/story snippet as a thank you!!

I was looking through mermay art and my brain went: leosagi but mermaid/pirate au GO GO GO!! And now we’re here.

Tiny back story to this is that Leo got lost and swam up a river estuary instead of down back towards the ocean and ended up finding a certain rabbit who had to help get him back home. They became friends and were very sad to part from each other, but ofc they find each other again and it’s dramatic af <3

Day 19 of TMayNT: Fav Casey Jones

Had to rush through this one just a lil bit… Sunday’s are dnd days, and so I didn’t have a ton of time for this one. But! I knew what I wanted to draw which helped. I always rlly liked 03 Casey, I thought he was really funny and, despite his faults, a genuinely good guy. One of my fav episodes ever is when Angel is introduced and he’s trying to look out for her. Also the hair. God do I love a long haired Casey Jones.

Teensy bit late but these took me SO LONG. I got way too into the clothing and then the colors continued to give me SO MUCH trouble, but I GOT IT! So. Here’s my interpretation of the rise boys <3

Ok SO I disappeared because when I saw this prompt I wanted to finish this. Now to try and catch up, or at least continue TMayNT. If anyone would like to guess at themes and motifs I'd love to hear it because I remember putting a lot of thought into the initial concept ^^

So a lot of this isn't up to my personal standards BUT I'm proud of it because: I have started dozens of projects like this and almost never finished any. I am fighting my perfectionism and sporadic ADHD motivation. I believe I conceptualised this at the end of 2022 or early 2023 and reanimated/redrew the storyboard at least 3 times over the first half of 2023 before it was abandoned. Until now. Also I've never had a "camera" to play with before so I'm very inexperience with that.

It's a bit inconsistent: 1. because it was partially an experiment using Moho. It was my first time properly using it and I definitely need to look at some tutorials because I' strong armed it and made things a lot harder than I'm pretty sure I am not making the most of the features lol. Its also a vector program, which I'm not used to. 2. because I redrew the storyboard multiple times (and kept various aspects of it for the final ver) and then redrew it a final time after like a year.

So I credited those artists for popularising the meme but I actually have no idea where specifically I got the idea. I do not remember referencing any other "Is It Cold Outside" memes. I'm like 99% sure I sat down and wrote out a plan/script in word but it's possible I was inspired by or referenced someone specific and don't remember, so if anything is ringing any familiar bells please let me know.

Day 17 of TMayNT: Fav Mikey

I was NOT intending to fully render this piece whatsoever, in fact, my plan yesterday was to get ahead of the prompt list but NOPE. Instead, I fell in love with the sketch and the lineart never looked the way i wanted it to, so i decided to PAINT OVER IT. GOD. It took me so long, but i am VERY happy with how this piece came out.

Fun fact for you: I was around 12? Or so when the 2012 series came out, prime middle schooler, going through puberty, and I was THE 2012 Mikey defender. I’d get into actual fights with my brothers about him. It was all because I was the youngest in my family and also had to deal with older brothers constantly poking fun and teasing, so I felt a lot of kinship with Mikey lmao.

Day 16 of TMayNT: Favorite Episode

TMNT 2003 S3 EP21: Same As It Never Was

But no seriously, I had to go all out for this piece because I LOVE this episode. It literally changed my life when I was but a wee elementary schooler. It’s also the reason I have such a huge love for apocalypse/time travel stories and made the rottmnt movie so special to me. I wish we had gotten more time in this universe, but thankfully as the fandom does, we have made LOTS of content to fill any gaps.

How long do you typically spend on each TMayNT drawing? Of the ones you've done so far, which one took the longest? Which one was the quickest?

OOOOOO! These are great questions, thanks so much for asking!

Hmmm, the length of each piece definitely depends on what I’m doing, but on average I would say most of these pieces take roughly 6-8 hours to finish? I enjoy posing a whole lot and bc of that I often use a lot of full bodies which takes me longer to finish. If it’s not a full body I can normally knock those out in 4 ish hours.

The one that took me the longest was honestly the first one! This bad boy right here.

It was the combined effort of multiple characters, multiple poses, and also not being extremely familiar with each shows style. I had to spend a lot of time during the sketching phase to try and emulate the styles as best I could and that took a loooong time. But I’m super happy with this piece! It’s one of my favs and was a great help in learning how each show tackled the characters designs as well as how other artists drew them too! I’ve gotten significantly more comfortable drawing each iteration of turtles now.

The one that took the shortest? Hmm, technically I think the Splinter one would classify as the shortest, however, it was Mother’s Day and I was so busy I called the piece early. I still plan on going back and finishing it. So with that in mind… I think it might be this one.

Which is funny considering it’s a full body + a prop, a mechanical one at that, but I was honestly in a mad dash trying to finish this piece cause I knew it was late. As the artist themself I’m very nit picky and in this piece it’s the line work where I can tell that I was rushing. I normally try to make my lines as smooth as possible for a finished piece but that takes a LOT of time and effort. So I used my sketching brush for the lineart to force my brain to shut off and get this one done. I’m not unhappy with it by any means! I really love the posing and had a lot of fun with it, but some of those lines, specially on the hover board, really annoy me now lol.

Thanks again for the ask!! Not to sound egocentric, but I really enjoy talking about my art and the trials and errors throughout it all.

I’ve learned a whole bunch doing this challenge. It’s been pushing me a lot and overall been super fun. Everyone has been so nice too!! Seeing the little comments from ppl always makes my day. I’m so very thankful for the creator putting it out there for me to participate in, and I’m thankful for everyone who decided to follow me along thru this challenge! 💞💞💞
