Hi. My name is Delphi. I’ve been on Tumblr for over a decade. Once upon a time, this was strictly a fandom and fan art blog, if you couldn’t guess from the url that I literally have not changed since I got here. Now it’s a mix of random bullshit that interests me, barely held together with an intricate tagging system with weird names designed to work around the various bans over the years (hopefully).

What’s my tagging system? I’ll tell you, hypothetical Tumblr user that definitely did not ask!

#funny stuff: Creatively named for literally anything that has made me laugh regardless of subject matter.

#warm and fuzzy tag: Cute things. Mostly cats.

#feminism: a short guide: A jumping off point for anyone wanting to learn more. Definitely not a short guide. #on being a headcase: It’s me, I’m the headcase. Anything and everything related to mental illnesses and disorders. I tend to focus on ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, along with trauma and abuse. These are tagged individually should you wish to learn more or block said tags. Long Eared Bat, huge ears and an adorable face!

Mexican Free Tailed Bat, named for the fact that their uropatagium (back leg membrane) doesn’t cover their tail, leaving them with a teeny mouse-like tail. 

Gould’s Wattled Bat, they got some pearly white sharp teeth, but they tell great jokes and always laugh at yours too.

Hoary Bat, AKA the bat that looks like they’re covered in powdered sugar.

Bulldog Bat, a bulldog… with wings <3 

Vampire Bat, often seen as creepy, but they’re actually really cute. Also fun fact, vampire bats live in a social structure where able-bodied bats go out and feed and then share part of their meal with old/weak/sick members who cannot forage themselves. No survival of the fittest here, every bat helps every bat out <3 

And lastly, the Painted Bat, and yes, those are its actual colors. Can’t get any more Halloween than that <3

A personal favorite of mine: Honduran White Fruit Bat, also known as ‘Marshmallow Bats’! These tiny cuties make tents by nibbling on the leaves until they fold down, and they snuggle close underneath it!

Bumblebee Bat! The smallest bat species and often considered the smallest mammal on Earth!

And the newly discovered Pied Bat!! I couldn’t find much about them, but gosh, they are adorable!!

I didn't baby talk with her very much either! I think I squealed at her more than my husband did.

Something funny that has happened is that while she formally calls me Mama when she's answering me in passing she does call me "My Darling Love" and I don't know for sure but I think it's because I call her and her father "my loves" and her father calls me and her "darlings" and she's created a mash up 😂

So I'll say "okay penny it's time for bed" and I'll just hear "okay my darling love!" 😂

Everyone is always so so kind on this post but I do want to warn you all that this did in fact lead to an insanely verbal child, and if you choose that life you have to commit to that life.

Penny Rose is now 5 years old and she

1. Starts talking the moment she opens her eyes to the moment she passes out at night

2. Asks, and I am not exaggerating I counted, an average of 892 questions a day

3. Does not accept "I don't know" as an answer to said questions, will usually have a follow up question as to why you don't know OR a suggestion on how we can find out together

Hamas Knew Gaza Would Suffer As A Result Of October 7

Sinwar anticipated catastrophic Israeli retaliation—and attacked anyway

Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib—a Palestinian-American analyst who grew up in Gaza—has published a furious response to newly revealed documents attributed to Yahya Sinwar. He calls Hamas a “genocidal cult” that sacrificed Gaza’s population for an international propaganda strategy.

I understand his anger.

The document in question was seemingly handwritten by Sinwar on August 24, 2022, more than a year before the October 7 attacks. It was recovered in Gaza by the Israeli military and subsequently published by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center.

According to the document, Sinwar envisioned sending as many as 10,000 fighters across the border. They would breach the barrier at 25 different locations, seize junctions, attack military bases and enter more than 200 Israeli communities.

Residents would be expelled or taken hostage.

This was a plan for an enormous invasion of southern Israel.

Sinwar also considered how Israel might respond.

He was apparently uncertain about whether Iran and Hezbollah would enter the war. But he was certain that Israel would retaliate with overwhelming force.

He wrote that Israel would use every weapon available to it. He contemplated the possibility that Israel might use an atomic bomb against Gaza.

Nevertheless, Sinwar described the proposed attack as a “battle of life or death” and continued planning it.

This is an extraordinary detail.

Sinwar understood that the attack would provoke an enormous war.

He knew that Gaza was a small, densely populated territory facing one of the most powerful militaries in the Middle East. He knew that Hamas could not protect Gaza’s civilians from the consequences of the war it was initiating.

Indeed, in reality, they did not even try. There were no attempts by Hamas to build bomb shelters for Palestinian civilians. There were no attempts to secure Palestinian civilians alternative supplies of water, fuel, electricity in advance of the attacks, either. There was no plan to evacuate Palestinians away from the war.

Sinwar chose to attack anyway, without real preparation for the civilian toll.

I’ve personally used both the flat single-filter version AND the triangular two-filter version, and based on subjective personal experience I would argue that the benefits from the second filter, both in terms of airflow and filtration, are absolutely worth it. If you need a makeshift air filter and you have two filters to work with, build the triangle (if not the box, i have no idea how good that one works but based on the info here i presume it’s a fair bit better.)

We literally built one this morning because the air quality had gotten so bad from all the wildfire smoke coming in from Canada (and we live closer to NYC ffs). I was so sick when I woke up this morning and my eyes were red and irritated and itchy. My mouth and throat felt constantly dry despite being properly hydrated. I was constantly sneezing.

Our cube has only been running for about five hours. My mouth no longer feels dry. My eyes are mostly back to normal. Sneezing has been greatly reduced. I'm still sick and that might take a while, but this is a HUGE improvement. The whole cube costs less than $100 to make and that included getting the materials delivered through Door Dash.

Build yourself a cube or whatever variation is necessary for your budget/living space. It will make a difference, I promise.
