she recognizes the room. it is the same room in which she healed from the battle against reiner four years prior. she missed a lot while she was out. when she woke up, eren had already discovered the secrets of the basement, reiner escaped, and armin was a titan.

“sasha,” someone says, a sigh of her name. she blinks again and her big brown eyes focus on the young man hovering over her just, careful hands pausing in his dressing. looking into his eyes was like looking at the sea. she can make that comparison now.

beside him, settled in a neat heap on a stool, appeared to be old gauze wrap, which she’s guessing is hers given that it is stained with old blood. then she sees the way he is pausing, the way his thumb retracts over his index finger and back down again.

wait…

“armin?” she voices aloud, cracking on the second syllable.

“I’m sorry. did I wake you?”

“no,” if she’s being honest. “hey…what happened to me?”
