One of the first things my tour group did in Wellington, was stop off at The Weta Cave. Be prepared for a lot of face shots. I had to prove to myself that me actually being there wasn't a dream....

And so begins my photos of Wellington - aka THE HOBBIT PREMIERE!!!

Not the prettiest of shots, but considering I was driving by the sign at the time, it's not that bad.

You might recall the big ta-do last year, when it was thought the vote for the sign's name would go to "Wellywood". Apparently it was not to be...

The hard part about this shot is that the sign sits on a hill just above a roundabout, so if you want a photo up close, be prepared to snap it as fast as you can on your way around. ;)

If you're lucky enough to stay at the Powderhorn Chateau in Ohakune, New Zealand, you'll want to make sure and book one of the rooms in which the LOTR cast stayed in. That way you get to say things like, "I slept in Billy Boyd's bed." or "I showered in Billy Boyd's shower." Cause I TOTALLY did.

The photos above show some awesome LOTR cast signatures in the Chateau's guest book (which they now have saved in a beautiful keepsake wooden cover), plus the shirt Sean Astin and Elijah Wood signed especially for the staff.

For a ridiculously high price, you can buy a keepsake hotel key chain with the name and number of the LOTR cast member's room you stayed in. However, I'm way to cheap for that, I just took video. :D

Remember that part in the LOTR Extended Editions where Andy Serkis talks about how, as Gollum, he had to slide down a creek to catch a fish? Apparently, it had snowed the night before, so crews where out melting snow off the creek edge in order for the scene to be filmed. Well....

The top photo is that creek. In his full mo-cap suit, Andy got on his belly and began sliding along, pretending to catch a fish.

The second photo is where he hit ice and couldn't stop himself from sliding.

The third photo is where he would have ended up, sliding off the edge and down that waterfall, if one of the film crew hadn't caught him at the last moment.

Just a bit of perspective on what Andy has gone through to portray Gollum...
