can anyone give me advice on my wip? :)
err I do think it’s going well, but it feels kinda empty?
drawing my girlfriends cat <3 it’s coming along, but i feel like I could use a bit more direction before I can finish it. (I do plan to add a tail btw!) but i’d love to hear your thoughts on the overall piece. feel free to share any constructive feedback, open to anything!
here’s some specific questions i have:
• tail placement: i’m working from a reference image that doesn’t include the tail, and i’ve tried a few positions, but they all feel a bit awkward. any tips on how to avoid it looking out of place?
• blank space: even with the tail, there will still be a fair bit of empty grass space. does this feel like a flaw? I don’t want to crowd the piece but that could be contributing to the empty feeling.
• background/figure interaction(?): the cat feels a bit detached from the background right now. i want it to feel like he’s sinking into the grass, pressing it down. i’m planning to color correct since the cat’s colors are from a reference with a different environment. any advice on improving this interaction would be great!
• any ways I can make it feel warmer, friendlier, more inviting?
