Glam Month Wrap-Up

Thanks for all the kind words over the past 4 weeks as I've posted a daily glamour for every job currently in FFXIV, featuring my WoL Lleidspaer. If I'm still into the game in 3 or so years during the lead-up to 9.0, I'll do something like this again (and hopefully we'll have more glamour plates to use by then)!

I've included all 27 glams again under the cut. Feel free to take a look back and decide which one is your favorite — I'm posting a series of polls starting tomorrow.

Outfit 27: Alchemist

"I confess: I am tired. I have traversed worlds; I have grappled with gods; I have lived lifetimes. There is always work to be done, but I need not shoulder every burden myself. Sharlayan has promised me a professorship in alchemical studies. I am content to accept the position."

One thing I find particularly interesting about the dragons of FFXIV is that they are very much beings of intent. How they mature is based on how they choose to grow, meaning that a group of sibling dragonets could all take on vastly different forms when they grow up

Even having babies at all is a choice! One that any dragon can make, with or without a consort in their lives, thanks to them reproducing asexually and also off of vibes

And let's not forget about how this power of intent affects their very blood. Not just any dragon blood will cause the changes into aevises, syrictae, or diresaurs that those descended from the surviving members of Thordan's twelve knights are capable of. It must be willingly and deliberately given for the purpose of transforming them—though while the dragon offering it must choose to do so, there is no such choice on the part of whoever consumes it, as we see in the Heavensward dragoon quests

(BTW, this is why it's safe for people to consume the dragon blood used in the various draconian potions we can craft)

Outfit 26: Weaver, Carpenter, Leatherworker

"Maintaining and restoring tomes requires myriad crafts: weaving for the binding, carpentry for the covers, leatherwork for the vellum, even chemistry for the inks and glues. A historical tome's quality reveals the caretaker's skill: patience, precision, integrity, and artfulness."

Outfit 25: Culinarian, Fisher

"Culinary complexity is lost on me. I cannot name half the spices the Bismarck employs, much less taste them. As long as I can catch fish to salt and preserve, I am satisfied. Catching my own seafood is relaxing, and a side of standard-issue hardtack truly elevates the meal."

Outfit 24: Blacksmith, Armorsmith, Goldsmith

"Metalworking is the backbone of any military industry (barring rare exceptions like Gridania). Smithing is also essential for building ships, city infrastructure, and even the tools of cooking that the Bismarck takes such pride in. I can think of no craft more essential or foundational."

Outfit 23: Botanist, Miner

"What makes a good survivalist depends on whom you ask. Is it choosing a tactical location to camp? Identifying poisonous berries? Knowing how to skin a bull aurochs? Remaining unseen from above while crossing a featureless snowplain? Whatever it is, I am not sure I care for it."

MSQ Trial Glam/Gpose Challenge 10: Ravana

wahoo, the first Heavensward trial! also iirc the first ffxiv-unique primal? whatever. giant bug guy with two cool battle themes, what's not to like. his design leans into the carapace being a suit of armor so i tried to pick pieces that evoke that look-- armor plating with 'softer' looking areas. i think the boots in particular match the ridges on his legs well.

unfortunately i can't have bug wings in the instance or 4 swords so the blue viper dual-wielding look is gonna have to suffice. i think these swords look really insectoid so it goes well with the design.

Outfit 22: Blue Mage

Outfit 21: Astrologian

MSQ Trial Glam/Gpose Challenge 9: Nabriales

The final ARR trial! And an infamously kinda stupid one. Bro doesn't even have a render. REGARDLESS. My plan was to do a fake Ascian outfit because that's fun. I really wanted to flex on Nabriales with a cooler mask so I farmed Eden Savage for it, please clap.

I wasn't expecting much but I really like how this turned out and how it compares to the actual Ascian robe. Even got the shoulderpads! There's a cowl that also looks pretty close but I ended up prioritizing Cool Mask over Kinda Boring Hood. I did go a little more ourple with it because fuck you it's my challenge.

I plan to make a compilation post of all the ARR outfits before I start Heavensward. Ascian!Kezona is kind of fun, I might use this glam in the future lmao.

Also I really like how the layering looks from the back so we get a bonus picture of that:

Outfit 20: Reaper

"I will forever denounce the Ascians' efforts to rejoin the star by inflicting Calamity after Calamity — but on a personal level, I have rejoined my soul with my shard on the First. Would a full rejoining of the soul be desirable? Can it be effected upon the lost souls of the Thirteenth?"

Outfit 19: Bard

"The power of song, at least, is straightforward. Language has power. Invocations, rites, and other such feats of wordcraft are taught even to children as brimming with magical potential. With my command of rhetoric, I would be an excellent bard — if only I could carry a tune."

MSQ Trial Glam/Gpose Challenge 8: Shiva

i like how this one turned out! i couldn't find any dual-dye chestpieces with a split cape so i had to settle. but i still think it looks nice! i erred on the side of blue over purple since the purples never looked quite right. i got to use a fun variety of blues and make them blend well.

during the boss fight she changes weapons but i find the sword/shield part most memorable, so i wanted to do PLD for sure. also i had to mindlessly kill pepsiman like 8 times for the headpiece. i wish there were big crowns that didn't look silly but alas. there's actually a headpiece modeled on shiva but that seemed like cheating and it didn't match as well as i'd like anyway.

it's crazy how well the pants match shiva's design fgdjkhfgs thank you codcar. i of course like this glam for uhhhh personal reasons :')
