Shuichi paused for a moment, looking down from the ladder to Kaede. He seemed slightly lost in thought, searching for whatever her reasoning was in this particular situation.

“Even if we heard anything, it’d already be too late given that we’ll be on another floor when it happens. The cameras are the only think that I think we can trust in this situation.” Shuichi turned back to his work and stacked the final set of books to completely block out the vent. 

Indeed, having the books stacked inside of the vent itself meant that no one would be able to make it through in any reasonable way or reasonable amount of time… Although, it’d make the library a bit stuffy.

“Besides…” Shuichi adds while stacking more books. “A few of us are starting to suspect that Monokuma is bluffing about the consequences of not killing.”

Would anyone really.. Joke about that? To bluff about a all out massacre? Either they weren’t seeing the threat here or.. Or ..

..Were they going to try and get everyone killed? She tensed, jaw clenched, before she glanced aside. She had to think about this for Shuichi’s sake.. He had to live too.. Her lips pursed, before she actually.. began to admit some things.

“--But aren’t you scared? I’m.. I’m a bit scared in all honesty.” Kaede had to admit this, her eyes widened before she felt them narrow, with determination. “If it’s true.. And .. if we don’t catch the mastermind.. Then.. Whats.. whats going to happen?..”
