@asexualsolas
This early stage of romance with Lucanis is driving me insane bc the - probably accidental - asexual representation in this relationship is so spot on
What do you mean him and my Rook never even held hands and in the one time they almost kissed Lucanis panicked but my Rook didn't give him shit about it not even once and a few interactions later, after the deepest emotional connection possible with the whole thing with Spite in the Fade/Mind Prison, Lucanis made him dessert and that was the gesture that made their romantic relationship official?? Whoever wrote this please hit me up I just wanna TALK
Not even my ace ass could come up with something like this, it's so damn specific and yet so... Relatable? That's not the word but idk how I would explain this in english lol Okay, it's a bit like what I've been saying about Lucanis: he seems like he was written to trap me in the game bc he keeps acting this specific ass way that somehow aligns with what I look for in a romantic relationship almost at every detail and I just noticed it's because he's acting soooooo ace coded in all of these situations
I never expected any of this and I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional since I've seen enough shirtless screenshots of Lucanis looking lovingly at Rook to know there's a sex scene eventually, but it would be so fucking cool if he was the ace romance option. Like you'd still kiss, share an emotional connection so deep your souls feel intertwined, go on coffee dates, walk around Treviso to talk for hours, he'd cook for you, you'd protect each other in the battlefield, none of you would date anyone else and sex could happen but it would always be optional and not doing it would not change a thing in what you already have. Do you see the vision????
Anyway, just rambling about him again, he had no business being so perfect and dreamy. Can't wait to see more of him. So no spoilers please!
Wayfaring stranger
I'm not going to release the full transcript of the Keynote Panel that Trick Weekes did, but I wanted to post some direct quotes from it about Solas.
It was a panel about what traits they share with the characters they wrote. They described how they tend to write "smart, sensitive boys."
"Sometimes the smart, sensitive boys were angry at the bullying they received and would lash out and get back with… with a kind of pride." (said alongside this picture of Solas)
They said that Solas shares an autistic sense of justice.
"When you're smart and you know you're smart, but you try to live your life being smart, but also scrupulously honest... when you see other people not doing that, it gets under your skin. How else could anyone react to that? Of course you're going to dig in your heels - and maybe you're not going to fight them directly but you are going to glare.
In the Weekes family, my sister actually ruined facial expressions for me forever by referring to the gesture that most of the Weekes boys did as “the beak,” which is what she calls it when a Weekes boy gets unhappy, and they just kind of look like this. A little bit of Sam the Eagle from the Muppets. So you do “the beak,” you get silent, you dig your heels in because you know that socially you can't actually argue, but you're right. And you are not going to let that go[...]"
"I lay in dark and dreaming sleep, while countless wars and ages past"

POV: Solas finally notices you
here’s a pic of this handsome dude all bruised and battered because why not
People really wanted to comfort Little Solas so I'm making him apologize first and he will likely have to apologize later as well
You may now hold him as your bonus, Enjoy:
be soft with him please
i cant stop making these it's so fun
may I offer you a Harpist Solas?
i love to read a character's stoicism as awkwardness. yeah your posture is great and you're mysteriously surveying the scene but it's because you're stiff af and don't know how to approach anyone, right?
Solas Dragon Age, actually a lot of DA characters. But with Solas especially when you see how much of an act it all is in all these tiny moments that add up in DAI and DAV, but if you get the Sollavan ending of DAV you really see how desperately he's been holding onto the act of the Dread Wolf, who MUST be stoic and composed, Rook doesn't know *Solas* like Lavallen and even Varric did, Rook knows the Dread Wolf, and that's what Solas must provide.
I also think it's so important that his name in the waking world outside of the Fade, outside of history, is Solas. Solace. Sol. The sun and warmth and comfort and finding peace in the ending you've found, despite the trauma and regret. Even the Dread Wolf can find solace.
felassan things that kept me awake last night:
the 4,000 year time span between the veil and the masked empire during which felassan could only ever have spoken to solas in dreams when at all.
the years solas spent in the lighthouse with all those fucking notes from felassan around. "don't cause too much trouble before i get there."
the only time anyone says felassan's name out loud in the video games is when solas says it in an ancient arlathan memory
solas not painting felassan a mural in the lighthouse and only referring to him as "my agent," once, but still regretting what happened with him so much that it's one of the three big revenants powered by his regret, after the titans and mythal???? sir your repression
the ambiguity of "the betrayal of felassan" as the name of that revenant. whose betrayal of whom.
the heart of corruption/revenant dragon residing in the same place felassan used to go to get away from everything.
felassan calling it "our rebellion."
felassan being aware that he would die if he reported back to solas, seeing a plausible way he could run instead, and reporting back anyway.
the tone he takes during his death scene being so friendly and nonchalant, "what's the harm really" and "i suspect you'll hate this," like he's still trying to talk to solas like they are friends and equals even while he is aware solas is about to kill him.
felassan isn't even his real/original name and in one of his veilguard notes he refers to being felassan at all as being "solas's friend felassan" like that identity is inextricably tied to his friendship with solas, he cannot be felassan without also being solas's friend.
"and you are the slow arrow?" / "i hope so."
in conclusion,
Solas giving up being a spirit for Mythal will never not hurt my feelings
It just occurred that Solas’ hair does seem very similar to Mythal’s own, perhaps a choice to materialise himself in her likeness. And one would only do that for someone that they hold in high regard, for you only imitate those you admire.
What if, upon Mythal’s passing, every time Solas looks in the mirror, all he sees is Mythal’s likeness and it haunts him deeply.
Shaving his hair, on the surface, allows him to remain covert by shedding (no pun intended) his image of being the Dreadwolf, but deep down, it could also be a way for him to reclaim whatever little remains left of his personal agency.
I realized that I could easily do the same to DAI's script, and I did that, but then I immediately created my magnum opus:
A Text File of Everything Solas Says In Inquisition and Veilguard, The Ultimate Fanfic Resource For Writing Solas' Voice*
and I fell on the floor because it made me happy.
*edited to correct a minor mishap
This was one of the moments pre-confirmation that made me go OH this man is on the ace spectrum huh lol
when Cole says “He wants when he has never wanted before” and then you remember this letter exists. Solas is thousands of years old and never wanted anything for himself until he meets Lavellan…a mortal who’s a product of one of his biggest regrets. And one that he cherishes more than any of his victories.
no I will never be over Solavellan
