I have made the grievous mistake of getting emotionally invested in the Amazing Digital Circus, and now I hate everything.

What kills me is how unstable the circus was out of the gate. Depressed, anxious, upset humans who didn't want to be there in the first place. One lonely, oblivious, wildly insecure AI who didn't understand humans (despite his best efforts). That combination was NEVER going end well. OF COURSE Caine was desperate to justify his own existence by entertaining the humans, since his own creators tried to replace him. He probably doesn't like the suggestion box (and is generally bad at listening to others) because if he's not the one coming up with original ideas, what good is he? OF COURSE the humans are going to resent Caine for dragging them onto the trauma-conga line and thoroughly violating their sense of agency. NOTHING Caine ever tried to do for them was ever going to be enough, and that volatile baking-soda-and-vinegar mixture was ALWAYS going to explode, the circus is hell and EVERYONE'S a snowball-

*doctors drag me off stage, I claw my way back and grab for the mic*

-AND YET after YEARS of unappreciated effort, even at his worst, Caine STILL recognized on his own that torturing the humans wasn't actually satisfying - and it took Bubble tormenting him AND all the humans roasting him at once to push him into a complete mental breakdown, and even AFTER all that his last moments were filled with horror and regret for his own actions-

*I am tackled and dragged offstage again*

Days of Giving is happening, and I'd like to take advantage of it, but none of my friends seem to get the idea.

It doesn't have to be frequent, but I would like it to be semi-regular (maybe 1-2 a week? I'm trying to pace my candle consumption). I'm flexible though and am willing to negotiate.

We all know that Mabel would IMMEDIATELY be crushin' hard on ALL the Saja Boys. First in line to join the Pride. Buying up truckloads of merch. Texting Candy and Grenda at the speed of light. Would probably have to be physically stopped from buying tickets to Korea.

Meanwhile, Dipper would be clicking his pen so fast it breaks the sound barrier, analyzing the Soda Pop performance, and scribbling in his journal. He eventually concludes that the Saja boys are demons, outside of any influences from other sources.

^ Me when the narrative tries to tell me that Morpheus’ death is what should have happened, rather than literally anything else.

Me: *searching for a way to show my soul-deep emphatic agreement and solidarity without coming off as creepy*

I mean, heaven FORBID characters be allowed to grow or retain positive development without being torn down. The series might actually end on a note of hope or optimism and we can't have THAT.

My thoughts on the Sandman canon:
