“ you know, i always thought people were kidding, when they would say how dirt stains ruin clothes.“ katie is shaking her head, she hadn’t believed it until she couldn’t get the stain out of her favorite jean jacket. “ it totally sucks, how true of a statement that is. “
lorelei pushed open one of the doors of the ashcroft library, stepping back outside and squinting at the brightness of the sunlight. she’d been tucked away among the shelves since early in the morning and clearly forgotten that such a thing as sunlight existed. but now she had a stack of books in her arms and she could happily say she’d accomplished something. whether or not it was really all that productive still had yet to be seen. lorelei dropped the books into her canvas bag as she walked toward the parking lot, only stopped by the sight of a familiar face. “aren’t you a sight for sore eyes?”
Eleanor was hard at work on her constitutional law paper. She questioned why she actually wanted to pursue a law degree, all this reading and writing hardly seemed worth it. The coffee shop wasn’t packed packed, just steady. While typing away furiously, she couldn’t help but feel eyes on her. After a few moments of the lingering feeling continuing, she looked up and at the table next to her the person was staring at her. “Are you trying to read what’s on my computer? Because I assure you, it’s nothing interesting. Unless you find the constitution interesting and would like to read fifteen pages on one part of it.” She shrugged and lowered the screen of her laptop. “So is the looking over my shoulder and at me going to stop or are you going to try to join me over here?”

“How far into January can you still dedicate a drink to the new year and it be acceptable?” The composer wondered aloud as he swirled the amber liquid around in his glass, “It has to be the entirety of the month, right?” He shrugged, “February though, that’s pushing it, but yes, cheers.”
“ no, no, go ahead. i’m sorry. “ vera gave that of a sympathetic smile, she had been looking through her purse for the zip-lock bag of ginger cookies. ( something that had been getting her through each day ) rather than paying attention. “ i missed breakfast, and well i’m surely regretting it. right about now. “ not exactly but what could she do ?
Stopping at the coffee shop was supposed to be quick, yet she’d been stood in line for fifteen minutes - purely because the person before her, who happened to be the only other customer, was kicking up a fuss because the worker had spelt their name wrong. Hearing the jingle of the bell behind her, she let out a soft sigh. “Just a warning…” She mused not turning around, eyes trained on the scene in front of her. “You might be waiting a few minutes, Jamie over here seems unable to comprehend adding an extra i to the spelling of their name isn’t insulting their honour. Seems about two seconds away from challenging the server to a dual… Or asking for their manager.”
Margo slumped against the wall of the diner with a sigh. She was relieved to be on break, even if it was it the ever so scenic landscape of the deserted back car park and she was likely to be called back in before she’d even got twenty minutes to herself. She closed her eyes briefly, attempting to bask in the last few minutes of winter sunlight, before footsteps disturbed her reverie. Margo cracked one eye open, not unused to people coming round the back in the search of the entrance, she pushed off the wall with her trainer. “You want waffles?” She asked indifferently after a short silence, holding out the Tupperware of food she sometimes got given for break but just couldn’t stomach at the moment. “Just, uh, be careful around that garbage can, a raccoon lives in there and he’ll attack if he even gets a whiff of food.”
“ alright my brain is fried. “ at that florencia is shoving papers and books into her bag. with what is probably frustration and just being tired. “ i have to do something that isn’t homework, what do you say ? we go do something fun or just go do something ? “
at what vanessa believes is footsteps, one can hear the sound of keys more rapidly. as she likely tabs out of whatever she was doing. a clear indicator she didn’t want anyone, but her own eyes seeing it. then as she does that she closes the laptop. “ oh hello, how’s it going ? “
“Oh, darlin’-“ Braylan’s tone is laced with sarcasm. His back is pressed against the sofa, blue eyes trained on the person in front of him. To his right, soda cans, an empty popcorn bowl, and a couple of bags of veggie chips are scattered and to his left, he could feel the anticipation building. Giving his cards a few passing glances, he tries (but fails) to keep on his best poker face. They weren’t playing poker, oh no, they were playing cards against humanity, and he was determined to win, even if it meant having the other hate him for a couple of days. “You have no idea what I’m capable of.” The scientist’s grin is cheeky and there is a sly look about him as he places a card face down on the table in wait.

It was already mid January and Lucas honestly couldn’t tell where the time had gone. It felt like just yesterday it was November and everything was fine but now everything was different. But he needed a distraction, having arranged to meet with someone for coffee. Getting his drink he grinned, sitting down at the table, “I promise you, it’s not that weird that we haven’t taken our Christmas lights down yet. Just means we really really love the holiday.”
“fuckin’ waste of time.” he muttered under his breath, hanging up his phone in a huff. for such an intelligent man, her really could reach the peak of his frustration all too easily. he simply didn’t have the patience for people intent on wasting his time and giving him information that wasn’t productive. the construction of his newest hotel in singapore was going well, but his plans to go and visit the site were getting held up by meetings and shake downs. he’s too damn busy, and he doesn’t trust his managers to get everything done for themselves. it’s why he’s found himself in the bakery, seeking some sweets. ”got any recommendations?” he muttered to the person beside him, unsure what exactly he wanted.
――――――― 𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑠𝘩𝑜𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎 𝑐𝘩𝑜𝑟𝑒 , one that the dark haired beauty had come to welcome . before moving out , before college , the task was always done by her mother , sometimes lorelai would tag along , but she’d found herself bored with it , far too quickly . in college , she’d welcome it as it meant she had enough money to eat more than ramen & having never been much of a fast food lover , well , she welcomed it happily . upon moving to ashcroft , she found it was something she could do to unwind , due business calls for new products all day , she found that after her daily yoga class , grocery shopping was calming . she didn’t have to look perfect , she often looked red cheeked & sweaty as she wandered up & down the isles with no rush , no care , just simply gathering things she wanted , needed or felt inspired to make . but tonight’s decision fell on the choice of blueberry or raspberry , stood in front of the frozen fridges , she eyed the confectionery pies before leaning slightly to the side , towards another shopper . ❛ are you struggling as much as i seem to be ? ❜ she questions jovially , teeth biting at her lip for a second . ❛ help a girl out ? blueberry or raspberry ? ❜
She had to get back to normal, that was what Paige kept telling herself. The last few years she had only skated for fun, enough to keep her in practice but nowhere near the level she needed to be at to compete. Why was this so hard now? She knew this jump, had been so good at this jump, and yet in the last two weeks had not been able to complete it. It was getting later in the morning, enough that the rink was about to be open to the public when Paige just had to go for it. one two three, up, spin spin spin and land. It ran through her head as the girl finally managed to get it to work, landing properly for the first time in weeks. “Yes!” She couldn’t stop herself from calling out loudly, looking over to see someone standing at the edge. “Did you see that? Yes tell me you saw that!”
sitting on the wall that separated the boardwalk and the beach, sam starred out at the ocean somewhat wistfully. it wasn’t as though ashcroft was a particularly cold city, but it’s winter’s were still damn cold. there are a couple of brave ( or idiotic ) souls out with their surfboards, wet suits adorned as they conquered waves. it had her missing times of warm weather and smiling faces, people in bikinis and ice-cream served along the boardwalk rather than hot chocolate. much as she loved winter, she couldn’t wait for it to start getting warm again. taking a sip of her hot chocolate, she glanced up as she heard footsteps approaching and offered a smile. “kind of depressing to see the beach when it’s overcast like this, huh?”
