i have rewatched this so many times (sorry for bad quality), and i’m still just in shock and awe
1) they’ve done such cool coding work with the egg, with hitting the egg costing three hearts even in the strongest netherite, and now explosions turning the blood vines into crying obsidian
2) the egg is so cool!! and it’s always secretly leveling up, developing the best defense system against the server (darwin would be so proud), and i’m so so excited to see what is going to happen in the future
The Eggpire Arc is way too underrated so here’s my pitch about Villain Badboyhalo for those who don’t watch him!!
if you don’t know how BBH became the Eggpire leader he is now, he was the first person in the SMP to fall under the Egg’s control. however, very early on in to the arc, he managed to snap out of its mind control when it took over Skeppy. he hated seeing his friend possessed and tried everything to save him with Puffy’s help, but somewhere along the lines, he let the Blood Vines take back total control of him so that he could be with Skeppy. Ultimately, his character is motivated by Skeppy above all ;^; (Their canonical lives are also linked so that BBH will die once Skeppy does which is another thing but - )
BBH has been vague about the Egg’s direct messages to him, so we have no real clue what exactly he’s being commanded to do or how deep the Egg’s control is. which is terrifying. But! as far as we’re aware, his self sacrifice worked as Skeppy is “recovered” now. BBH constantly campaigns for the Egg to the SMP, and he can be very vicious in his methods. BBH had said he didn’t think he’d ever be able to kill someone, so Ant and Sam promised BBH that they would do it for him. Now? he’s ready to kill anyone who hurts the egg, he’ll manipulate his old friends, and he’s willing to go to any length if that’s what the Egg commands him to (his only exception being Skeppy ofc. mans really made this shounen friendship bs canon??)
but basically: you want a misunderstood, unwilling antagonist?? a villain who has done bad things but bc it’s their only option?? a character whose motivations revolve around their relationship to their best friend, who they ended up sacrificing control of their mind for??? all canonically????? watch Badboyhalo and the Egg Arc!

Of all the partnership possibilities in all of MCYT, Technoblade and Skeppy is so unexpected but is so good to watch? They're complete opposites in that Techno is a deadpan, murderous PvP god with a bedwars winstreak of over 1000, while Skeppy is a peppy and devious entertainer focusing on family friendly fun and pranks. They shouldn't work so well together but they've just clicked? The two of them are so obviously fond of eachother (see: Techno's only other linked YouTube channel being Skeppy) and it's incredibly wholesome to see.

this is an au where when dream goes to techno's base for the first time looking for tommy, techno isn't home, so tommy answers the door instead of hiding in his box. and he's traumatized from being manipulated so much, of course (but that's canon-)

Dream knows exactly where Tommy is now. Hiding, like a little coward, with his brother.
He had Tommy wrapped around his finger, able to manipulate him into doing anything, really. He couldn't have Technoblade helping him put his guard back up. He walks through the snowy lawn of Techno's base, leaving menacing footprints in the snow. He climbs the steps and knocks on the door, expecting an answer from Technoblade, but instead, a cheery voice sounds from inside.
"Oh, Techno must be home! Is the door locked...? He usually doesn't knock."
It was Tommy- Dream grows a smile beneath his mask; Techno isn't home. How perfect. And Tommy seems brighter, but he's still talking aloud to himself when no one is around... it makes Dream realize the impact of exile, being alone for so long. It makes him feel powerful.
Tommy opens the door, immediate shock washing over him. Dream could see him freeze, the way his relaxed fingers retract into defensive fists, his dull blue gaze turning grey. His mouth hung open, as if he would have said something, but he couldn't.
Dream wants to know exactly what is going through his mind. He speaks first, with a warm and welcoming voice, the one that Tommy had endured for weeks in exile, the only constant variable in his life at the time. "Tommy! I've been searching everywhere for you- I was so worried."
Dream sees a plethora of emotions flood the boy's eyes, predominantly fear- then a sudden, polarizing shift to relief. Tommy runs forward, tears bubbling under his eyes; he wraps his arms around Dream in a tight embrace. He's shaking, his head buried into Dream's shoulder. "Dream, I've missed you!" He cries through a voice crack. The pain in his voice makes Dream wince.
He wraps his arms around Tommy in return, letting him sob on his shoulder. This was good; Tommy still thought of him with fondness. He had been worried Technoblade had stripped all of his work away from Tommy.
"It's okay, I'm here now."
"I really shouldn't be doing this," Tommy says in a raw voice, "Techno will be mad. Don't tell him, Dream." There's desperation in his tone that forces a breath into Dream's lungs.
Just tell me you hate me.
George's words echoed in his ears, bouncing around in his emptied mind. Suddenly, Tommy's slender arms felt a lot different, warmer, more meaningful- he had glasses that pushed against his shirt and brown hair. A hug from George was so rare, only on special occasions did George hug anyone. After they win a tournament or a fight- never just as a greeting. His hugs always signified celebration. Dream felt confusion cloud his thoughts.
The tight hug that George has around him suddenly feels tighter.
Dream doesn't care about us.
Dream feels his breath hitch in his chest, his heartbeat growing heavier. The bear hug was now being given by Sapnap, the ribbon-like band around his head laying limp over one of Dream's arms. His lungs were not only emptied by the sudden flush of emotions he felt, but from the enormous squeeze Sapnap embraced him with. Every time Sapnap saw him was another big hug, as if he hadn't seen Dream in forever- even if it had only been a few hours. The happiness that radiated from his friend was always enough to make him feel better, even on the darkest of days.
But why did it feel so different now?
He doesn't care about us, George. We're on our own.
Dream's eyes clamp shut, and his chest heaves with a sudden whirl of feelings that hit him harder than a truck. Where is he? The SMP? L'Manburg? Why is does this hug feel so horrible and sickening? Why does he want it to stop so god damn badly?
He's pulled away from his vision when Tommy releases his hug and draws back, wiping his eyes and staring up at Dream with a huge grin.
Tommy.
Dream's arms stay limply outstretched for a moment, his fingers curling in towards his palms with a slight quiver.
The power, the leverage- was it even worth anything? What was it worth if the only two people he would ever want to rule with hated him?
He lifted his hand shakily to his mouth, covered by his cold, smooth mask. He feels a few years slip down his cheeks, but makes no effort to wipe them away. He feels powerless, even with every bit of puissance at his fingertips.
"Dream?" Tommy's smile had faded into a frown, his voice is hardly anything more than a whisper of wind.
Nothing really mattered, did it? Not without the two he founded the very land he stood on with. Not without Sapnap and George. He was nothing without them.
"Don't tell Technoblade I was here." He mutters through a shaky breath, then he turns and hurries out the door. The cool, snowy air hits his burning cheeks under his mask. He can hear Tommy's confused muttering as he descends back onto the snow-covered lawn.
