pining is 100000% the most important aspect of pre-relationship fic for me. good-natured whole-hearted pining filled with lovelorn gazing and chest aching and fluttering touches, that’s my top priority. i was put on this earth to watch characters suffer over the profundity of their love for another person. unrequited love is why god made me. characters finding out that their feelings are reciprocated after long months/years of suffering is why the universe was assembled from nothingness. amen.

HIII :3 omg lemme think abt it ajdjdj i actually haven't played the first games in 3 years so😳 hopefully i can remember enough (edit after writing everything: what the fuck was i saying. of course i remember)

ehem let's go🔥 (in no particular order) (also get ready for an abundance of noelashe and 45 billion paragraphs worth of yapping):

• first of all, ashe, noel and claire cooking in bonus stage of course... SOOO CUTE i love that even though witch's heart is a horror game, there's still lots of silly scenes to balance it out lol. noel not knowing how to crack an egg is kind of hilarious and so is ashe's reaction to it but it's also pretty sad when you think about it🥲. i love these 3 so much i hope they get more scenes together!!!! also i love this claire sprite of her showing off her clean hands lmao👐🏻✨

• ashe taking care of noel when he was sick in bonus stage🥺 star carrots soup you haunt me so (i'm sure it haunts ashe too)... i made a long ass post yapping about noelashe once specifically because of that scene and cuz of what i was learning in ethics class lol (i actually showed it to my teacher and he loved it), cuz i think it's such a meaningful scene for ashe's character ane his relationship with noel. i love that his first instinct is still to show kindness and to help, even if he has tried it all to bury that side of him. i also love that he seems to be more genuine around noel and let his guard down unconsciously, because noel reminds him of his past self, and his fragility reminds him of lilia and activates his big brother™ mode lolol. oh and i ALSO love when noel brought up the soup later, saying that ashe saved him, and ashe was trying to brush it off, but still offered to make the soup again. GUYSSSS😭🫶🏻

• noelashe AGAIN, their scene at the end of sirius conclusion. AHHHHH OH MY GODDDDDD😭 i don't even have to explain right. "me when he throws himself in front of a bookshelf to save me but the house falls on top of him and he gets sent to a paralell universe😍" -old post of mine /silly

everything about it is so peak, i love noel finally realizing and accepting his similarities with ashe (though i wish ashe would understand it too...), i love him telling ashe that he can still start over, trying to convince him that he's still a good and kind person AAAAAAAA. and ashe denies it obviously, he wants to keep believing that he's a heartless monster so that he can push himself to do horrible things without remorse, but even if very very deep down, he knows that noel is right. also "if you keep lying to yourself, you'll really destroy your heart some day" (paraphrased) is such a peak quote.

i love that they show ashe about to kill claire, until she makes him think of lilia, and then the next scene is claire waking up with his knife next to her. IT'S SO GOOD AND SO IMPACTFUL🥹. also, i thought they really hammered the point home with ashe's character in this game, even more than necessary, so it makes me insane when i see people that still misunderstand him😑 (if it wasn't clear yet i HATE when ppl mischaracterize my favs and are media illiterate so i can get very annoying about that lol)

• the fight at the end of wilardo's route🔥. WHO DOESN'T LOVE THAT SCENE, IT'S SO PEAK. me and my brother were yelling at the screen when it happened LOL man i really hope we get another fight scene some day lol, though there is also ashe and sirius' fight in sirius conclusion... hey can we get another duo to fight, without ashe this time? lol it'd be fun. i like that wilardo was fighting for claire but then finds out about the contract and immediately kills her himself without giving himself time to think about it, or else he might give up on the idea. the ending is so good too. he truly didn't want to hurt her and still feels guilt over having done so, which is crazy because he doesn't need to feel guilt! he's gonna die in seconds! he's lived for centuries, you'd think he's completely emotionally jaded, but he really isn't. i like that about him.

• THE END OF NOEL'S ROUTE. HOLY PEAK!!!!!!!!!! ashe i love you so fucking much. is it insane if i say that even though ashe had always been my favorite, this scene made me love him even more? LOL just the genius of everything he planned is AUGH so so so amazing. i love that we get to play as the mysterious figure/ashe and are forced to kill claire, even if we obviously don'y want to. also THE FLESH MONSTER OF COURSE. so so sad to see him cry. also oh the duality, noel who is a literal monster, in that moment endlessly more human than whatever ashe has become here. i've said this before a long time ago but noel tries his best to not become a monster like his father, even if he already is one physically, but ashe pushes himself to become a monster, in the figurative sense. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!! also the only moment where noel hated ashe was when they couldn't recognize each other...

• speaking of noel's route. i gotta bring up this moment because it's severely underatted. maybe i should've said it first because it happens before the last scene i just talked about but ANYWAYS!! noel entering his joker arc or something and locking wilardo up in his room. HELLO??? JUST LIKE THAT?????? THE EVIL LAUGH TOO????? ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. also i love what wilardo says durinf this scene, that noel seemed inhuman. forgot the wuote previsely but aughh. i also think it's kinda funny that he didn't even put up a fight lol. consensual false imprisonment...? /silly

i think we need more insane noel. iz has said that he has the ability to go "more insane than ashe", so GIVE IT TO ME. I WANT TO SEE THIS MAN LOSING IT SO SO SO BAD. also in the scrapped wh content site, there's a scene where noel would "go crazy and fill the mansion with demons", and YK WHAT? HELL YEAH, GO OFF KING. ALSO I LOVE THE ART FOR IT SO MUCH.

uh back to the scene in noel's route LOL. i think it's very important to remember that even if noel is trying to achieve an ending where no one suffers, the best for everyone, and even if he doesn't want to hurt people himself, he's still not above letting others die or hurt each other if it means claire will be alive. in this route, ashe and sirius (not really but he thought so) were BRUTALLY MURDERED, and what does noel have to say? "sorry sirius, ashe..." hello? bro is continuing the loop anyway, because claire is still alive, he can't miss the opportunity, even if his childhood friend just went through a rasputinian death. something something selfishness and selflessness something something. this isn't to say that noel doesn't care about sirius, i know he does, but he still puts claire's safety above all else, to the point where he lets other suffer because of her. oh the unhealthiness. i think it's a very underrated side of his character that i personally love. noel please start tweaking out more. thanks.

• ashe's dream with lilia in wilardo's conclusion🥺 MY BAAAAABIES. lilia seeing ashe as a hero when he sees himself as anything but that, just a monster, a shell of the person he once was, but he still carries her when she's injured, he's still kind and good to her, because of course he is. one time long ago i had someone tell me that they hated ashe, and that his backstory was "too much about family, and not enough about himself". but... that is the point, you know. ashe's entire life and sense of self revolved and still revolves around his family, even after their passing. it's like saying that noel's story has too much claire in it... like, duh. also i think iz said once that they both live for others, instead of themselves, which is yet another great parallel of theirs.

back to the scene, i love that the dream with lilia is tue first good dream ashe has had ever since his family died, and also the last dream he has before he dies🥹. he could reunite with his sister even if for just a bit.

• ashe's death in wilardo's conclusion route a. GRRRRNRJEJRR. WHYYYYYY!!! i mean great writing iz wow such a good game haha 10/10 WHY DO YOU HATE ME AND ME SPECIFICALLY /silly. man. will ashe and noel ever be happy?? who knows... well, i do think claire and ashe will end up living together in ine of the endings of ashe's conclusion, so i still have hope, but what we have now is soooo sad. and here i thought that maybe ashe would genuinely get his wish granted, even if i found it odd. but of course he didn't. i think at this point it would just go against the narrative and what iz intends with ashe's character, so i don't think he will ever get his family back. but it was so fucking heartbreaking to see him get so close to it... also THE PARALLELS OF HIS DEATH WITH NOEL'S DEATH IN SIRICONC. HELLO????? both died happy knowing that the people they loved were safe, that they had done something for them, saved them...😭🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 also i love wilardo's quote when ashe dies, saying that "he finally looked peaceful, as if the obsession had finally left him"🥹. my baby. oh and claire being the only one to cry over his death, when he wanted to kill her is so AUGHHHHHHHEHHEHE. the cg of him falling in the game's credits is also so so so so fucking painful too. I CRIED SO MUCH WITH THIS GAME. SO FUCKING MUCH. AAAAA

• ashe with his family🥺. i guess this one is more general bc i just love everything we got with his family. i'm so excited to see them again hehe. i love ashe's story in bonus stage, i think it does a beautiful job humanizing him and showing why he became like that.

i specifically like the part where ashe's family was nagging him about getting a girlfriend lol and he said he didn't need one because "i already have you guys". so real ashe. his family is so important to him that he feels as if he doesn't need much else, he doesn't even have many friends. aaaa i wish we could see how ashe would'e been like when older without the trauma...😞 we can always daydream. personally i think he would be very similar to noel *sobs* (also, ashe's mom loved patricia millers, so surely he has fond memories of her music too. i want noel to find out about that aaaaa pleaseeee oh the angst potential... actually i was trying to write a fic about that once, just remembered it, maybe i'll finish it one day).

• OKAY LAST ONE but honestly it's just because you said top 10 moments cuz i could go on and on forever LOL. i love ashe and noel's scene with the black cat in siriconc. i love that they obviously like each other and want to be kind to each other, it's their first instincts, but both have to force themselves to hold back because of different reasons🥹. noel because he's too trusting and believes that everyone can be good, so he wants to be nice to ashe and to believe that he has a kind side, and ashe because he's too distrusting and believes that everyone can harm him just like his evil ugly stupid shitty ex-friend did, so he has to keep others at arms' length in fear of being hurt again.

BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY CARE SO MUCH FOR EACH OTHER AUGHHHH THE WAY THEY HAVE TO KEEP REMINDING THEMSELVES TO NOT BE NICE AJFJSJFUSJD ROUGE EVEN KICKS NOEL AFTER HE'S NICE TO ASHE. "no...! i shouldn't get carried away...!! GET A GRIPPPPP!!! noelashe in siriconc is especially crazy and insane bc ashe gets attached to noel so quickly,he's so worried about what noel thinks of him, and worried for his health etc... brother you just met. aughh if they weren't in such a fuckass situation and all, i'm sure they could've been friends🥺🥺🥺🥺. i love them so muchhhh. also unrelated but their size difference is cute lol

Oh, it's one of my favourite scenes in "Bonus Stage" too! Their trio interaction is just amazing. (Noel and Claire can fix Ashe, I believe in it.)

The principle of balance is very important, especially when it is about pretty dark or tragic things! If there is too much angst or violence, it may begin to feel less intense and powerful! So soft, fluffy, funny and silly scenes are necessary to be in them! (To make our pain even more sharper.)

(You really need to go in "Higurashi" one day...)

I sincerely think that this special behaviour of Ashe is caused by the fact that Noel REALLY catches him off guard very often. No any other character surprises Ashe so much. My personal collection of Ashe's shoked expressions because of Noel:

• ashe's dream with lilia in wilardo's conclusion🥺 MY BAAAAABIES. lilia seeing ashe as a hero when he sees himself as anything but that, just a monster, a shell of the person he once was, but he still carries her when she's injured, he's still kind and good to her, because of course he is. one time long ago i had someone tell me that they hated ashe, and that his backstory was "too much about family, and not enough about himself". but... that is the point, you know. ashe's entire life and sense of self revolved and still revolves around his family, even after their passing. it's like saying that noel's story has too much claire in it... like, duh. also i think iz said once that they both live for others, instead of themselves, which is yet another great parallel of theirs.

back to the scene, i love that the dream with lilia is tue first good dream ashe has had ever since his family died, and also the last dream he has before he dies🥹. he could reunite with his sister even if for just a bit.

WHYYYYYY!!! i mean great writing iz wow such a good game haha 10/10 WHY DO YOU HATE ME AND ME SPECIFICALLY /silly. man. will ashe and noel ever be happy?? who knows... well, i do think claire and ashe will end up living together in ine of the endings of ashe's conclusion, so i still have hope, but what we have now is soooo sad. and here i thought that maybe ashe would genuinely get his wish granted, even if i found it odd. but of course he didn't. i think at this point it would just go against the narrative and what iz intends with ashe's character, so i don't think he will ever get his family back. but it was so fucking heartbreaking to see him get so close to it... also THE PARALLELS OF HIS DEATH WITH NOEL'S ENDING IN SIRICONC. HELLO????? both died happy knowing that the people they loved were safe, that they had done something for them, saved them...😭🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 also i love wilardo's quote when ashe dies, saying that "he finally looked peaceful, as if the obsession had finally left him"🥹. my baby. oh and claire being the only one to cry over his death, when he wanted to kill her is so AUGHHHHHHHEHHEHE. the cg of him falling in the game's credits is also so so so so fucking painful too. I CRIED SO MUCH WITH THIS GAME. SO FUCKING MUCH. AAAAA

• ashe with his family🥺. i guess this one is more general bc i just love everything we got with his family. i'm so excited to see them again hehe. i love ashe's story in bonus stage, i think it does a beautiful job humanizing him and showing why he became like that.

i specifically like the part where ashe's family was nagging him about getting a girlfriend lol and he said he didn't need one because "i already have you guys". so real ashe. his family is so important to him that he feels as if he doesn't need much else, he doesn't even have many friends. aaaa i wish we could see how ashe would'e been like when older without the trauma...😞 we can always daydream. personally i think he would be very similar to noel *sobs* (also, ashe's mom loved patricia millers, so surely he has fond memories of her music too. i want noel to find out about that aaaaa pleaseeee oh the angst potential... actually i was trying to write a fic about that once, just remembered it, maybe i'll finish it one day).

• OKAY LAST ONE but honestly it's just because you said top 10 moments cuz i could go on and on forever LOL. i love ashe and noel's scene with the black cat in siriconc. i love that they obviously like each other and want to be kind to each other, it's their first instincts, but both have to force themselves to hold back because of different reasons🥹. noel because he's too trusting and believes that everyone can be good, so he wants to be nice to ashe and to believe that he has a kind side, and ashe because he's too distrusting and believes that everyone can harm him just like his evil ugly stupid shitty ex-friend did, so he has to keep others at arms' length in fear of being hurt again.

BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY CARE SO MUCH FOR EACH OTHER AUGHHHH THE WAY THEY HAVE TO KEEP REMINDING THEMSELVES TO NOT BE NICE AJFJSJFUSJD ROUGE EVEN KICKS NOEL AFTER HE'S NICE TO ASHE. "no...! i shouldn't get carried away...!! GET A GRIPPPPP!!! noelashe in siriconc is especially crazy and insane bc ashe gets attached to noel so quickly,he's so worried about what noel thinks of him, and worried for his health etc... brother you just met. aughh if they weren't in such a fuckass situation and all, i'm sure they could've been friends🥺🥺🥺🥺. i love them so muchhhh. also unrelated but their size difference is cute lol
