jane asher here. you may know me from my work on stage and screen, or perhaps from seeing my name in a programme or newspaper now and then. either way, welcome.

i thought i’d make this little diary as a place to chat with people whenever i’m not caught up in rehearsals, filming, or trying to learn another set of lines.

i’m an actress, a lover of stories, and someone who is often found with a script in one hand and a cup of tea in the other.

oh, pattie — that’s lovely to hear. i’m glad i caught you at the right moment! you’re terribly sweet. though now i feel I ought to write more often if it has that sort of effect.

finding old photographs sounds rather dangerous... i can only imagine what you came across. though i do like the idea of being remembered fondly, even if it does make one a bit sentimental. we really mustn’t leave it so long again. tea sounds perfect, truly. cavendish or esher, i don’t mind in the slightest, so long as we’re able to sit properly and talk without too much fuss or attention about us. you know how things can be at times.

and do tell me — how are cyn and mo? i feel as though i’ve been terribly out of touch lately, and i’d love to hear how everyone’s been getting on.

hi Jane do you think your brother Peter feels bad because he's gotten popular only because you're dating Paul when your popularity really didn't have anything to do with the Beatles from the start? I know you have your own share of Paul-related problems you probably deal every day with but you're definitely not getting any money from his songs like Peter does. I mean, I think Peter and Gordon have something to offer without Paul McCartney too. On Juke Box Jury you once said you didn't entirely liked one of their songs... Are you really a fan of Peter and Gordon as much as you are a fan of The Beatles?

that’s quite a lot to answer, but i’ll do my best.

i don’t think peter feels badly at all. he and gordon have worked very hard, long before any of this, and i’m terribly proud of what they’ve done. it’s a lovely thing to see people respond to their music.

of course, paul has been very generous — that’s true — but a good song alone isn’t everything. it still has to be performed well, and i think they’ve proven they’re quite capable of standing on their own.

and regarding juke box jury, i did like the record. i only said that the middle section wasn’t quite to my taste, which i think one is allowed to say. even about one’s own brother.

and yes, i am a fan of them both. one can like more than one group at a time, you know.

Been thinking about this little tune I thought of a few years ago. It’s a bit different from what we usually do, maybe a bit old-fashioned, but I quite like it.
