Asher just finished his afternoon anchoring and had the rest of the day free so he decided to go to the crystal cove boardwalk. Changing out of his suit and into a tank and shorts, the anchor walked a few blocks down to the boardwalk. As he was approaching the ferry to go for a ride, Asher spotted a hooded figure shuffling between a few of the stands on the boardwalk,Β βWhat the fuckβ he muttered under his breath as he leaned over the ledge of the boardwalk to get a better look at the shady figure. With everything that had happened recently Asherβs senses were heightened and he was jolted back to reality as he moved his arm against the aged wood too quickly and got a splinter. The immature news anchor exhaled sharply,Β βShitβ turning to the person next to him,Β βDid you see that or am I going completely insane?β the high maintenance anchor questioned the other as he removed the splinter from his arm.

Β Β Β daphne downs her whiskey and hisses out a breath at the burn. lately, daphne was either at her job or at the bar. very rarely was she seen anywhere else. her two addictions- work and booze. plus, all these missing teenagers were bringing up memories sheβd quite like to bury. but sheβll settle for drowning them instead. she gestures for another drink but someone beats her too it, ordering first.Β βhey dude, iβm trying to drown some sorrows here- wait did you just order beer? you cut me off for beer? if you wanna drink piss flavoured water go right ahead but let the real drinkers order first, capiche?β
if there was something asher enjoyed in this world, it was his slightly toxic friendship with daphne and their draw to alcohol and bars. asher was late to meeting daphne at the bar and when he got there he quickly found his companion, smirk on his face at her already telling some gross man off.Β βyeah, you fucking heard herβ the news anchor glared at the man and smirked as he waited for daphne to order. once she was done he ordered a rum and coke and sipped on it as he turned to daphne, βyouβre already half in the bag i seeβ he teased,Β βwhatβs up with you?β the news anchor asked, drinking some of his rum and coke.

It had been about a week or two since Fred had arrived back home in Coolsville. A part of him, the boyish, dramatic part of him, wanted to make a grand entrance and shout from the top of lung that Fred Jones was back in town. However, the part of him that didnβt want to have to run through the small talk of why he was back or why he left in the first place, that part prevailed. But Fred couldnβt stay in the house with his mother and father all day, so he ventured out to see the town heβd grown up in and managed to walk all the way to Weirdo Woods. Fred stood back, not daring to actually enter the vast wooded area. Instead he looked on at the trees before him and tried not to let the early morning mist, which poured out of the woods, spook him or enthrall him. The spooking, though, was inevitable as he heard a twig snap behind him. Fred turned around quickly, fists up, as though he could fight whatever was behind him. However, he was only embarrassed to find it was just another person and annoyed that his first thought went to monster.Β βSorry,β he said, lowering his hand to his chest to feel his heart rate come back down.Β βI hadnβt, uh, hadnβt expected to see anybody here. Or anywhere, if Iβm beinβ honest.β

It was six AM which meant that it was time for Asher to start his repetitive morning routine. The news anchor was a creature of habit and it was time for him to go for his morning job through Weirdo Woods. As he put on his running outfit, he quickly exited his condo and jogged down the stairs, realizing he had left his AirPods at home.Β βFuckβ the news anchor muttered under his breath as he continued jogging, without music to distract him. As he jogged through the woods, Asher could spy a figure in the distance. Usually he was alone for his runs and he scoffed as he stepped on a twig, causing it to snap and the figure jumped suddenly. Asher stopped jogging and caught his breath,Β βHoly shit, someoneβs jumpyβ the new anchor exhaled. Asher shook his head,Β βYβknow I donβt blame you, this place is kinda fucking creepy in the morningβ the former actor conceded, looking around sheepishly.
