In distancing ourselves from negative thinking we realize we are not our thoughts.

Daily stress
After moving back to my home state I notice my stress level increased quite significantly in a short period of time.
Realizing what the stress and stressors are can be helpful but what else can you do to help yourself manage and deal with the stress? The last month I let that stress run my life and control my thoughts and feelings. But it's now after I sat to myself that I realize the role I've let this stress take.
Life has many stressors in it. Constantly changing from up and down, back and forth. And in this change I need to remember to take care of myself physically and mentally. For me going to the gym becomes more than a physical exercise of body but a chance to focus my mind on how my body is feeling during each movement and exercise as it's happening. It allows me a form of meditation that is unique for my body.
While this is an excellent meditation for my physical form I can't forget to give my mental and emotional form some attention as well. Today I started a sitting meditation focusing on noting my thoughts and feeling. Trying to step back from letting your thoughts and feelings throw you around. And while this is the first day, continuing with this self care is a step to stepping back from my stress and not letting it become me.
So my thought for the day is that stress is temporary. Pain and suffering is temporary. And we have the power to step away from these things and not let them control us. But we have to take the first step on our journey to change.
Every moment counts. Every action counts. A single kind act can have a positive impact on the future of many others you share the earth with. You can change the course of the future in any moment.

Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.
~ Dalai Lama
Hurt people hurt people. That’s how pain patterns gets passed on, generation after generation after generation. Break the chain today. Meet anger with sympathy, contempt with compassion, cruelty with kindness. Greet grimaces with smiles. Forgive and forget about finding fault. Love is the weapon of the future.

Vegan food is so delicious definitely my favorite and cruelty free! Love and compassion spreads far beyond humans show love to all beings. Thankful for all of the wonderful food that is available to me.
Energy cleansing is not a glamorous process. It is not good vibes, yoga and buddha bowls. It’s heavy, deep and can feel very ugly. Most people like to pretend healing is just magic and positive vibes. Healing is accepting + integrating painful experiences from the past. Honesty and transparency are important. Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel, and don’t hide it. Don’t be ashamed of it ever. Don’t feed into the new age movement. It does more harm than healing.

Seriously you guys, this fettuccine alfredo is the bomb. The alfredo sauce is made from a base of cashews and cauliflower. Even if you ignore the entire rest of the recipe, make this sauce and eat it with everything… but you should probably try the shiitake ‘bacon’, too!

Violence and hate
Over the past several years on my Facebook feed I see videos of people hurting, hating, and attacking each other. It breaks my heart. So much suffering that is caused intentionally by another human because of differences as silly as religion, skin color, sexual orientation. And the response you see is division, separation, and more violence. Unfortunately this division and violence is a choice we make. To act unconsciously at the control of anger seems easy but the suffering you cause because of it is not. I've been told my ideas of love, compassion, and mindfulness are "hippy bullshit" and this practice will not help change any situation. However, if we all could love each other as deeply and unconditionally as we ourselves want to be loved. If we let go of the ego and sense of self. If we become the compassion, and mindfulness we wish there to be there will surely be change. Love and compassion can seem hard at first and I find myself at times being less compassionate than I should. But by every day practice you can become a source of unimaginable never ending light and love. There is no difference between who you think you are and the person next to you. We are all the same, all one source of energy being dispersed all over the universe in many different forms. And based on this alone if you love yourself you surely should love all others as they are also you.
We will develop and cultivate the liberation of mind by lovingkindness, make it our vehicle, make it our basis, stabilize it, exercise ourselves in it, and fully perfect it.
The Buddha (Samyutta Nikaya)
