I liked the backrooms movie overall but to act like any criticism people have against the movie is invalid because the point of the backrooms is that "it doesn't make sense" removes any room for growth from Kane Pixels as a first time movie director. like, no, I agree that a psychiatrist is a cheap exposition tool of a character and actually hindered the writers' story telling.

Why work to know our protagonists' backstory when he can just word vomit the entire thing to us within the first 20 minutes of the movie? Why take the time to show us how he survived in the backrooms and how it ate at his psyche when we can just write a "deranged dinner party" scene and tell us to imagine? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie overall, but there are definitely holes that take it from great to just good.
